Questions?? Duratrax Baja Bug

Does anyone else out there race the Duratrax Baja bug? I have a continuing problem with the "dog bone" shafts falling out. Does anyone know a fix for this?

They have springs that hold tension inside the hub and on the diff cup... It "can" come out if all the conditions are just right.. But if you do not have springs in there anymore, then it can come out no problem at all.... So if you did not realize this at first, your prolly missin some springs....

Yeah I hear ya on that one... Not sure why you keep losing shafts... I have two Evaders myself and the only time I had an issue was when I broke a tierod on my EXT and everything fell out... Other than that it has been a solid truck... Make sure there is no play in your tierod... Eliminate that and I honestly don't know what it could be from there...

Thumbs up RE:

I will check out the tire rod ends, I did also find the ball studs were pulling right out of the mount. I have ordered upgraded longer studs that I can secure with lock nuts

That's 90% of the issue right there... What I did was drill a hole through the ball cup itself... With a SMALL drill bit.. Threaded a screw all the way through and backed it with a locknut on the opposite side... Been solid as a rock ever since... And with it done that way I don't have to worry about the ball cups wearing out over time... I would take some pics for ya, but I'm at work... But you catch the drift of how I did that eh?? Makes it much more solid!!!

Just pick up the CV's PN#DTXC7271 and you wont have any more problems with dog bones. Replace the short ball studs in the rear hub with PN DTXC6254 and that issue is solved. One more thing is to replace the ballcups with RPM version for Associated car.

Default RE: Duratrax Baja Bug

What I had to do was pickup a set of beadlock wheels and tires from my local hobby shop and order a set of new Duratrax tires for the beadlock wheels. It was very difficult to find a aftermarket wheel that would work. Also, I did have to add a Traxxas hex cap to make the new wheels work. They stick out just a little but at least they are the same height as the front wheels.
