Default XERUN 150A - any bad experiences?

After my HobbyKing.com 150A went up in smoke (on 5s, not even the 6s maximum), I'm looking for a more reliable ESC.

Does anyone run the XERUN 150A on 5s or 6s? Any failures?
Be good to hear long term reviews.

Thanks

I started out with Tekin RX8 when they were first released. The first one components came off the main board so was a warranty replacement. The replacemnet did not last long when the rotor of the tekin motor decided to explode in the can. Now I run a HW XERUN 150A and HW2250 motor and have not looked back. In the Truggy I use a Tekin 1550 and 6S but in the buggy I use the 2250 on 4s as just cannot get 6s in there unless I use a non hard case pack. I use the HW XERUN 120A speedcontrollers in my 1/10th and find them really good and have yet to have a failure.

I think you'll find mixed reviews. As with all electronics there are good ones and bad apples in the bunch. My XErun ESCs have all been running great for a year now. I love them for the price. I don't race but just casually bash around and they have held up great.

My slash has been running an ezrun (xerun without sensor) 60a ESC for 3 years now, and it's been working great.. my 80A Xerun powered my Mamba Monster 2200kv in the e-revo just fine too, and now powers my slash 4x4. They're great value for the money.

The 150A XERUN is probably the most reliable 1/8 ESC out of them all. Every company has failures and sometimes it's just bad luck but I've very rarely seen people post of a dead XERUN 150A. I know several people running them and none of them have had any issues.

Price point great... Quality Great...... People taking care of their investments questionable? I have had Castle, LRP and Tekin ESC malfunction and it will continue to happen but these ESC's are strong and work well and like i said for the price to be able to compete is sweet! Tekin RX8 $180 roughly a competition set up motor and esc from HW $200 thats with a motor so for the price point to race its a great system! Don't look for the bad look for the good as you see in all these replies hope they help!!

You can't go wrong with the Tekin. However I would use the XERUN 150 if it was smaller. Its to big to fit in my 1/8 but that is the most advanced 1/8 on the market.

The only downside I have ever had with mine is that it is a little bigger than some and it caused mounting issues in a couple of cars. It has been dead on reliable though and very smooth with a variety of motors.

It doesn't matter if it's 3s,4s,5s,6s if you overgear it, you'll smoke the esc. I've burnt with the best of them. You must gear for temp and the track. Your driving style matters too, if you use the brakes a bunch, your harder then anybody else. If you have the timing turned all the way up? your gonna really watch temps, or the burn down. I run mine on 6s in a truggy, went up a tooth and backed down the timing and its faster and more drivable, less crazy though.

Mine has a toroidal coil inductor on the wire that goes to the receiver. Anyone remove this? Or does it need to stay on?

Good to hear, one of the distributors lives just down the road from me so hopefully I'll get looked after if there are any dramas.

My motor is a HW xerun sensored 2250kv so hopefully it'll play well with the matching ESC on 5s. I'm not geared very high, the old ESC just combusted spontaneously while the car was sitting still after a short (<1min) run.

It's for noise filtering. Brushless vomits noise into everything it can, so leave it on.

I did alot of research, and talked to alot of people that have a HW esc. They all said it was great no problems. I got a 150a, 20 min of run time later mushroom cloud.... Popped all the caps... on 2s...

HW makes good escs, but like everything else there are some bad ones. The only difference is the name brands offer a better warranty. HW you either have to send it back to the distributer you got it from if you lucky. Or, you get to send it back to china and hope you get one back in 6 months.
