Default Nitro Engine rebuilds

Hi All,
I am new to RC and nitro engines all together. I have been reading a lot of different articles and forum threads. Anyways, my question is this, how often do you need to rebuild your engine? How many gals. of nitro can you run through your engine before you need to rebuild it? Does rebuilding an engine mean replacing the Sleeve and Piston? Or is there more to it then that?

Is there a way to increase the time or prevent rebuilding?

I have tried using search, No luck.

Thanks for your help,

it depend on the tune you put on the engine . lean not long if rich a bit longer . also the fuel you use the more caster oil in it will help the piston& sleeve as for the gallons i get 3 gallons per rebuild iv'e heard of some people getting 10 gallons ..

Thanks for the reply.

All you are replacing when you rebuild an engine is the sleeve and piston? Or is the more parts?

Thanks again

Nick
