Default Does anyone know what the Proline "R3" Compound is?

I found for sale a set of 1/10 buggy rear Holeshots, Proline PN: 8184-12 that states it's the R3 compound. Anyone heard of this?

Yes, it's Proline's answer to Losi Pink, J-concept Gold, Panther "C", etc.. It's meant to be an indoor clay type compound. It's softer than losi pink but works in most of the same conditions. I think it's the same thing that Proline calls "MC" now.

So what's the difference between mc and r3?since the mc is a clay compound?

R3 is NOT what MC is now. R3 was garbage just about anywhere. They don't make it anymore for a reason.

Pro-Line's R3 compound was a blue-groove specific compound, developed to combat the high wear characteristics of other compounds on a hard, blue-grooved tracks while still providing adequate grip. Unfortunately, the compound didn't work on many other track conditions and since blue-groove tracks have since become more rare, the tires subsequently were discontinued and are no longer in production.

No, it was meant to be a race compound.

I've never heard anything about a compound change since they changed the name to MC (it was only a name change at the time). R3 worked very well for us at tracks where Losi Pink was the ticket but the Taper Pin was still the best.

I always thought R3 was made to compete with Losi's Red compound (for outdoor bluegroove). Except it couldn't that's why it's not around anymore. I've never seen it work good anywhere, especially on indoor clay. It never usurped M3 at Socal.

M3 is the equivalent to Losi red, not R3. If M3 worked at your tracks, I can see why R3 didn't.

It's becoming apparent that ProLine didn't tell the racing public what R3 was for effectively.
