what would you choose for a motor of these?

I've narrowed it down I think. I'm looking for a good 17.5 motor to run in my boosted legal stock class 2wd buggy. The track is a small fairly tight track with medium/high traction. I've narrowed it to these motors, what do you think?

Speed Passion MMM 3.0 17.5R

Revtech 17.5

Trinity D3 17.5

Reedy Sonic 17.5

reedy sonic for sure its very smooth and quite a bit of power for a 17.5 definitely worth buying :nod:

Have you looked at Murfdogg at all?

rsxskyd 03-10-2012 02:38 PM

both D3 and revtech are awesome motors, I would also consider Murfdogg, just got one of them and replaced it with a tekin redline which is still a great motor, but the murfdogg ran nice and smooth!

Reedy is nice but I would rather go with what I said above! Goodluck!

So speed passion is on the botom end of the scale it seams. Maybe go with a revtech. Seams they are a very fast stock motor.

On a small track, you should look for a motor in a different approach, going with a motor because its the fastest one may not be the right one and I know alot of people here will agree. The good thing about revtech is that it has great torque and also top end, d3 is also great on torque, murfdogg has great power through out power band top and bottom. Every motor is going to be different depending on how your gearing it and what you will set the settings to on esc.

Id say Team Epic Duo 3. The reason I pick that over the RevTech is that it seems to respond to Boost much better than the Revtech. If you were running a Stock Blinky class than the Revtech is better than the Duo 3. I run a Duo 3 17.5 in my blinky class and in mod, and Im pulling everyone in stock class and only a few seem to pull from me in mod.

Can't go wrong with any of the motors you listed. Just figure out the power band, programming & gearing for the one you chose and it'll be great. +1 on considering a Murfdogg Synergy 17.5T.

Viper-- 2011 2wd Stock ROAR National Champ - just adding my .02

shelbyranger 03-10-2012 08:03 PM

ehhh not viper fan sorry. I'm sure they are ok but too many guys boosting them at my track and boooom melt down. Most guys at my track run Orion, thunder power tekin. I want something different is why I narrowed to d3, revtech, reedy and speed passion
