Default Tamiya Hornet shock mods

I decided to dust off my vintage Hornet and take it out for a few laps.

Does anyone have experience with modifying shocks to replace the front springs? I have been looking for a list of parts or a write up, but I haven't found anything. I contacted Tamiya directly and they recommended this forum. Also, has anyone replaced the rear shocks?

List of parts and pics would be greatly appreciated.

I know there was at least 1 conversion kit out there but my memory isn't that good. There were many people that custom made new shock mounts. Here's one example. Get creative. The Tamiya forum on rc10talk.com would also be a great place to ask the question. Just don't ask what the car is worth!!!!

EDIT: Here's a link to a thread on rc10talk. Scroll down.
