1/8 Buggy for Bashing
 

I currently have an e-Revo BL and would like to add an electric 1/8 buggy. I will primarily be using the buggy for bashing (is that an oxymoron?) but there is a possibility (albeit a small one) that I may race the buggy at some point in the future. I am looking for a buggy with the following features:

• it must be as tough as possible for bashing
• quality components that don't need upgrading
• parts availability
• good handling
• able to accomodate a single 5000mah 6s lipo pack
• did I mention that it must be tough?

I have been looking at both the Mugen MBX6 Eco and the HPI Vorza Flux. I realise that there is a fair price difference between these two buggies but this is not a major factor. The Mugen appears to be the better handling buggy but I am concerned that it may not be as robust as the the Vorza. I would welcome suggestions as to which is the better option for me or whether I should be looking at something else.

I have a Vorza and love it - it's a tank! No experience here with the Mugen, but I own a bunch of buggies and trucks and the Vorza is very stout. FWIW I run on 5S.

Vorza , it handles decent and is tough as nails . The Mugen might out handle it but it wont be as tough .

Only Buggy tougher than the Mugen is the XRay.

I failed to mention I also have a 1/10 BL E Revo and the Vorza seems to level out better while jumping. It might have something to do with the chassis being a hunk of stainless steel...

My 11 yr old has inherited the "Big Revo" and I'm all Vorza...

Vorza is strong, but Mugen and Xray is strong too if not stronger. This said hpi parts are cheaper

The Mugen seems to have a smaller body than the Vorza as well as a slightly smaller battery tray. What is the likelihood of fitting either a 5000mah 6s or 2x 5000mah 3s lipo packs in the Mugen?

I bash with an xray 808 and its very tough, another option might be the durango dex408, they are going for very cheap at the moment. Dont know about durability but they race great.

if you are wanting to run really big batteries with minimal handling issues, your best bet may be to look at a caster racing fusion EX1.5R . They offer this vehicle in an RTR and Pro version.

it uses the saddle pack lipo setup, so you can run 2 3S batteries easily assuming they are ROAR dimensions (bigger may fit, not sure).

These vehicles are actually pretty tough, and are compatible with a lot of the Mugen MBX5 / MBX6 parts .

When they come available, you can also find them used for really cheap. One just recently sold fully loaded with tires,etc. on ebay for about $400 . and when I say fully loaded, I mean every race option and then some with parts, etc on it.

When running a single pack setup with an ultra heavy battery, you can get weird weight bias issues to that battery side. And the further out the pack is from the centerline of the vehicle, the worse that condition will be.

I know this is an old thread, but I just have to say, Mugen and Xray are waaay tougher than ANY RTR buggies... they are like tanks... just can't break them :)

I'm a HPI-fanboy, but my Mugen ECO handles way more abuse than any HPI cars

The Tekno parts I own are hella stout, very well engineered and executed, and very well supported. I sent them a short question recently on a Saturday night and had an answer by lunch on Sunday.

If the EB48 is the toughest 1/8 then it will be both the best racer and basher :D

I am thinking Mugen Eco if i get a buggy. Seems something squirrel goes on about abit and looking at it it does look very solid.

Interesting to see tekno coming with one, was very impressed by my tekno axle carriers on my emaxx, chunky, well made and my understanding is that their parts in general are excellent.

Xray would be a money bag, no doubt it would be good and my xray t3 tourijg car has copped a hit up the backside from a 1/8 nitro buggy; buggy busted an a arm or hingepin for its troubles, my t3 was fine so thats saying something. But parts cost a fortune so on going costs could be steep.

Xray plastics are the best IMO but I had two converted 808 and the transmission wasn't trouble free (diff bearings)
