RX8 or Mamba Max Pro for 4x4 SC???

Hello guys, I am currently running a Durango DESC410R with a Mamba Max Pro ESC and a 550 can, Tekin 4.5 turn; however, I still need a little more power out of her... I am currently using the "Cheat Mode" with the MMP, but still need a little more ommpff! My question is, will switching to a tekin RX8 give me the more power I am looking for??

Thanks for all the replys and for any advice!

Seriously? You need more oomph? With a 4.5? Wow... I ran that same set-up without cheat mode and it was a rocket ship, in a much heavier SCTE! I have heard there is a 3.5t 550 motor out there...

or a 4.0T

Wow there IS a 2.5T even!

power

i have both, i dont think the rx8 has anymore power, they both have timing advance.. i actually like the mmp better.... if your looking to spend money the new viper copper head system is real cheap and has some high kv motors, that will def be fast

if you want a really smooth and really fast setup i would recomend the rx8 and pro4 4600kv motor. This combo gives all the power you will ever need.

rx8

ya agreed, the 4600 motor is insane....

But will that be faster than the set up I already have???

I am currently running about 45 degrees from 2800RMP to fully engaged at around 10000RPM, with a 12T Pinion gear on the motor.

The problem is, the current track I am running on has a lot of bigger jumps, right out of corrners, so I need that bottom end power. The truck hauls ass down the straighaway, but has trouble making some of these jumps right after the coorners, especially when my battery pack isnt 100% fresh (and I am using 50C discharge saddle packs as well).

Any advice is appreciated...

I have been told from locals at my track that switching from the MMP to the RX8 will give me the more power that I am looking for... You didn't see a difference though huh???

If you want to be faster change the gearing, more power than get the RX8/Pro4 4600.:D

Its not the top speed I am complaining about, its the out of corner torque/power... And I am already running an 12T pinion...

What other gearing options should I try? Would running a bigger pinion help me with this out of corner power I am looking for??

Thanks,
-Cam

I think your RPM range is off. Having the timing dump in at 2800 is too early and will take torque away. trying 4500 low and 11300 for the high. I would use more like 30 degrees of timing as well. Our guy is running a 4.5 in his 4x4 sc and 30 CHEAT is plenty on a 90ft x 60ft. He has killer speedo and power from a Novak 4.5.

Really? Having the cheat mode come in at an earlier range can take power away?? I thought the earlier you engaged the timing, the MORE torque the motor would have, not less... I will deffinately give her a try next time im at the track... Should I gear back up when I change the range of timing as well??

That's a lot of timing for the sc4x motor. If you need more power go with the pro4 4600.

Timing just like in drag cars is for topend speed and they use more timing to actually take power away on lowend. Timing is speed, not torque. If you read about timing on brushless motors they have you take timing out to gain torque.

You might be able to gear up a tooth or two but using the smaller pinion will get you up in the power/torque part of the powerband a lot quicker so start with the 11 you have on now and go from their after your run some practice.

He is running a 14 tooth on his heavy Losi SCTE.

The guy running the fastest laps is using a Tekin 4600 4 pole and RX8 but uses not boost at all but then again 4 pole motors have way more torque and power vs a standard 4.5.

OK Thank you for the explination... I am running a 550 can 4.5. Do the Pro 4 motors still have more torque than these as well?
