Default Best ESC for (BLINKY RACING) Thoughts, Opinions, Setups

I am new to the stock (blinky) class and have found that there are many different opinons on what ESC to use as well as lipo, motor, gearing, ect. I know that people say that most esc's in blinky mode should all be about the same but from what some have tested that is not the case. So please share you findings good or bad as well as setups and any other info. Thanks.

Most of the modern day blinky ESCs are all about the same. The main differences is in how smooth they deliver their power, price, size, and quality of support from the manufacturer.

I know with my 10th scale pan truck (blinky mode) there was a big difference going from one brand esc to another when i was testing and I have had people at our local dirt track test 2 different brands back to back and noticed a considerable difference as well. Unfortunantly in blinky we are needing every single bit a power we can get so that little bit of a difference in esc's might be a big factor at some point. I own almost all the top brand esc's and there is a big diffference in mod and 17.5 boosted in how they all feel.

The Revtech 17.5 is a beast in blinky. I could almost keep up with some people running boost.

If you really like the revtech it's even better with the 12.5 tuning rotor.

Our GTB2 with X-Drive is an affordable, spec-only controller maximized for spec racing.

I am running the GTB2 in my pan truck right now and really like it. I gained a couple tenths by just switching out my other esc to that one. Lap times don't lie. Great esc for the $$.

Blinky mode and timing profiles. The SXX V2 has timing profiles geared for mod, but the lowest profile on the Stock Spec is roughly the same as the highest on the SXX V2 and they go up from there. Plus the SXX V2 has no blinky mode. There's also a difference in motor limit, but that's not really relevant for stock class discussion.

I use a lrp v2 sxx tc and it does have the blinky mode. I run it with a fantom apex 17.5 and very pleased, I can also boost the esc and run sportsman/mod with same car.

The Comp V2 can indeed be run in blinky mode. Also, with the Comp V2, you can adjust the throttle "feel" while leaving the boost at zero, and still be legal for blinky. You can't do that with the Stock Spec V2.

My bad. Was that a change in the latest software? Either way thanks for clearing that up. I may swap my NIB stock spec for an SXX V2 now.
