Default Recommendations for a 4x4 SCT.

Hi guys, i'm new to off road. Was wondering if anyone could suggest me a good 4x4 short course truck. Too bad my LHS does not carry Traxxas. But my LHS has a distributor for HPI. Is the new HPI Apache SC Flux good? The stock BL System requires 2 batteries. Can i only use one?

Well, there are various hobby shops, but from what i know, mostly are drift stuffs. I think i have a Kyosho,HPI dealer. Traxxas/losi/AE don't have i guess. Probably a good SCT from HPI. If the esc with the Apache SC flux needs 2 battery, can i use only one?

HPI's 4x4 sc truck is a 1/8th scale..not a 1/10th..probably need two batteries for the size/weight...but if it has 1/8 electronics in it..u should be able to run 1 good lipo pack in it..don't know much about the stuff that comes with the truck..and i run 1/10 trucks..but u shouldn't need 2 batteries to run the truck

Traxxas/Losi/Associated ONLY. Dont waste our money trying to make anything else worthy and/or fast. If you bash Traxxas if not Losi or AE. Remember you wont need parts if you have a good rig that doesnt break everytime you run.

You can find good trucks in the classifieds

Sometimes it takes a while to get what you're looking for

Be patient and do your homework so you'll know what you're getting

Find out how much the item costs new with available discounts. The benefits of buying new are numerous including returns, no worries about missing items, no transmissions with crunched or dirty gears hidden by very clean cases, blah, blah, blah.

I've also gotten some incredibly good deals buying from individuals - just gotta be careful and it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion.

It's really humorous when people pay $400 at the LHS for a truck, they take their new truck to the track a few times and then try to sell it for $375 when the same truck is available online, brand new for $325 from six different vendors.

Enjoy your adventure!
