Talking orion 5000mah 90c!!

I just picked up one of these bad boys today and it charged @ 5 amps (wich is max on my charger) in one hour. It has a max charge rate of 5c. So if I up grade my charger to one that will charge @ 10 amps or higher will it charge in a half hour? I was very suprised. Any feedback will be helpfull! Thanks !

yes, a better charger will be able to charge at a higher amperage. Check with your LHS and tell them what you want in a charger.

1c - 1 hour
2c - 30 minutes
5c - 12 minutes

A 5c charge rate would require a charger with a 210 watt output (25 amps @ 8.4v)

Cheers

Do you really believe they are 90C? Just ordered 55C Gens ACE lipos and doubt this C rating is real so 90C.. This is just marketing. ORION has a very bad reputation here, expensive and not reliable. I personnaly never tested one but come on 90C... Why not 150? The cars are already wayyy to powerful for most of the drivers, and this lipo must weight a ton.

Better go with a lighter and smoother car than a powerful heavy car, this is common sense if you want to be fast around a track.

I used 3300mah 25C Hyperion 6S lipos in a whole year on every terrain with no problem at all. That means 82,5A peak so how the hell would anyone need 450 amps?

The lipo does not way a ton, and Orion does not have a poor reputation. Orion race packs have always been one of the top companies and are some of the best batteries money can buy. The battery is actually lighter than many equivilant mah rated lower C packs. Also, the purpose of the 90c is a lower internal resistance, and the pack stays more consistent throughout the run when the voltage dip under load is less, it makes the car perform better and more consistently. Please, get your facts straight before bashing a company or product.
