Hey there, new to the forums and just picked myself up this new crawler with a steel sub-frame. Right now its basically a rolling chassis as i just got it tonight and worked on it for approx 5 hrs time. It does have a HiTec 645mg servo, Micro airtronics rx, micro f2000 ESC (13t), Venom fireball 60t motor and for now it has no body (dont like the stock one it came with so i aint even painting it).

questions....
what should my first upgrades be aimed at for this thing?
i plan on using it for competition later on, but for now what im asking really, is what are the 1st thing i should really consider doing?

i own many RCs, incl touring cars, monster trucks, etc.... (nitro & electric) but this is my 1st crawler so im lost? hehe

I would run it and then see what up grades you should get. I have the AX10 and I haven't found the need for upgrades.

Since it is a scale 1.9, I haven't found anything that needed to be done yet. I will put a crawler motor in it and crawl it though. (I have it set up for trails now)

thanks, ive installed the radio-box into the rear of the subframe to appear as a fuel-cell (idea came from RCCrawler) and filled it with BB pellets for weight to the rear axle. Ill need to either figure a new way to mount all my hardware up front (or) just buy another radio-box?

you need the weight up front not the rear... well alittle in the rear.. every truck is different.. i hate the body on the scx.. but thats me.. i have three scalers and been crawling for 8 years... very fun and laid back. here is my rig

there is weight up front with the 7.2v battery stick (which eventually, ill be breaking down and buying single cells, which ill be doing up in 2 sets, 1 on each side of the axle, where 3 cells sit on the left and 3 on the right). along with the other things like the servo, esc, etc, up front for added weight. Im thinking where 1:1 scale rigs are up and beyond 2000lb weight. You cant just have all your weight on the front axles right?

and agreed...i hate the body they give you with the scx10

Here's my SCX10/TLT I've been working on the past few weeks.







I'd recommend getting the AX-10 Sliders, you can see how I mounted mine. Just drill the frame rails in the appropriate spots and trim your body to fit. They should take a lot of stress damage off the body itself.
