Slimey Thoughts
Yes on what has been posted, but.
The slime gets in the shock and degrades the weight of the oil.
We run Losi shocks and use Green Slime to lube the O-rings prior to assembly. But, we keep the amount of slime to the minimum. I've seen people assemble Losi cartridges and use the tube of slime like a caulk gun to squirt a bunch of slime in. Instead, we put some slime on a finger and roll the O-rings in it, removing the excess before putting the ring in the cartridge.
We then put a small amount of slime on the shaft around the E-clip lands and the end. Thus the O-ring and shaft are lubed for the installation of the shaft into the cartridge and all the lube is present that's ever going to be used between the ring and the shaft. But there isn't a great humping gob of slime to contaminate the oil.
At big races we re-build shocks every day, sometimes more often, so O-ring degratation from friction with the shaft usually isn't an issue.

well, i wanted to find out. So, i took the shocks off my B3, took all the parts out(including the shaft) and rebuilt them. I also had just finished my B4, so the shocks didnt even have a run on them. I bashed hevily on each sock set for 5 runs, and then tore them back down. i noticed that the seals in the B3 shocks were more worn than the ones in the B4.

For many years I have used the slime on my o-rings and I apply it like I do the diff lube on balls. I put a lil green slime in my palm and roll the orings around in it coating them. Then place them into the shocks. You only need a light coating and not half a tube. Good Luck. P. S. I have also found that the MIP blue orings will outlast the red or grey ones by double. All 3 o-rings seal well but the silicone shock oil will cause the o-ring to swell over time and make the shock shaft sticky. The MIP blue o-rings do not swell as fast as the others. Just my $.02
