OUCH ! That must have been NASTY !
Yeah hard case packs are the way too go in RC cars , too much banging around for soft packs IMO . The GensAce 5000mAh 40c 4s batteries on hobbypartz.com are the real deal , ROAR approved , and a bargain at 59.00 IMO .

Hobbyking.com Turnigy 4s for about $40!!! I have used them all season with no problems. I also have protek and maxamps and can't tell the difference.
Gearing should be ok but you want to find the gear that just barely tops out on speed by the end of your longest staight. Start there but you may have to drop a tooth or two on the pinion. Time yourself and drive like you are racing for about 6 minutes ands check temps. If you are over 120 degrees you might be geared to tall. Keep your eye on it. I wouldn't go with 5s or 6s unless you are just a basher not racer. Most tracks are 4s max and it's all the power you need and then a lot more. Anything more is just hard to control no matter who you are. Remember also that more cells means more voltage and power, not runtime. More runtime is achieved my lower kv motors and/or higher capacity (mah)

Below are the packs I'm looking at all 5000mah with 30c or better. As long as I can get 15minutes out of a pack I'm happy!

How do you feel about those packs? Will they do the trick and give me 15-20 minutes of run time...? My combo is Tekin RX8/2250KV

Thanks, I really don't plan on racing using more than 4s just bashing with 5-6s pack. The site you gave me has good deals on 4s packs but I really didn't see any on 6s that fits my needs/wants.

waiting on new lipos, charger, and a bce electric chassis for the 8t 2.0
you guys with the 8t how many are using the stock losi 45tooth plastic spur? i never used off the get go i went with a lightweight 48, but i did have to slightly shim the center diff up a bit. now that im going to use the 45 tooth i dont have to shim it, but then i need to step down the pinion size and the motor wont go any further in past a 14 pinion. no real heat changes or anything with the 45? i was always geared at 15-48

I mean 4s is really better for bashing too imo. You go higher voltage and you are really not putting the power down and you are tearing the tires off rims. It's overkill. The castle 2200kv on 4s will rip tires off. Plus it is best to go hard case. If you wreck into something bashing and your battery gets punctured you are going to have a bbq. My nickels worth of free advice. I say go with that gen ace. A couple of guys at my track use them with good results.
Start off with the Gen Hard and Turnigy 4s packs! I don't plan on jumping head first and get the 5&6s off the bat
