There is a lot if mis-information out there. For one, a servo cannot damage a BEC, the BEC regulates a given output, a servo cannot draw more than the BEC provides. All electronics are impact sensitive. Mount it carefully and don't abuse your vehicle (trying to throttle out of being stuck is an ESC killer in all scales). Nothing lasts forever but an ESC run within reasonable limits should have not problem lasting a couple of seasons.

My LHS carries it, may want to check around. I'd hate for tape to hold your build, but it is the best I have ever found.

I have the rx8 in my SCTE, while it's not a 1/8 scale vehicle, it's heavy for it's size..I just got my rx8 a few weeks ago..but I love the thing..hasn't gotten over 110*, i run a savox 1258 servo, with no glitches or brown outs (yet)..hoping i dont ever have problems..but I've been adjusting different settings on it daily, trying new things out. I don't have the hotwire, I've been doing it all by using the 2 buttons on the esc itself, and reading the manual...So far i think it's great..but I've only had it for a few weeks..I do know another person who has had their rx8 for a few months without a problem..same application..SCTE

I think I'll probably go with the Mamba Monster. I can get it for $130, warranty is great, longer then tekin, includes programmer, and sensored motors are very exspensive. They only help on start up. What servo would be my best bet so I don't run into issues?

MMP with a tekin 1900 and a savox servo(even with a BEC) does NOT work!! tried it in my 8ight-e 2.0 and throttle would cut out as would the brakes, tried messing with all the different options in programming as well as sensored and sensorless. if you want to use a MMP get a 1700 or lower, or just run it with an RX8 or MMM. i'm running mine with a MMM and castle bec with savox servo and it works great

i'm running an rx8 in my desc410r with a castle 3800, and it works great with a savox servo and no bec so i'm sure you'd be fine running the rx8 with a savox servo

I've been using the Hobbyking 120A esc and find they work well, and can't beat the price. I used to love Castle stuff, the old Mamba 25 made the Mini T FLY, the original Mamba Max was a tank, but the MMM and MMMXL seem like time bombs waiting for somewhere to blow (went through 6 MMM's myself, got one left in my SC8e and I have a fire blanket handy when I take it out now), the MM Pro has a weak BEC circuit (couldn't even handle 5mm led's). Everyone talks up Castle warranty, but it costs me $30ish to post it trackable back to the USA, takes a week or two there, 3 week turnaround time, 1-2 weeks back, when I can get a HK for $40, even if I smoke 2 a yr, still get more bashing in than I would with the Castle if it goes just once.

I take out the Savage on 4s with the HK esc and abuse the living s#it out of it, esc has never temped over 100f, MMM used to come off at 130-140 and with the programming card I can limit it to 10%,. 20% power etc in case a mate wants to have a go and you don't want them hackin around at 45mph.

Before you go down the MMM path have a look at these:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcHGx6W1k80
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo2_WPjMIMI

I found those in 3-4 minutes, if someone has videos of Tekin, Hobbywing Ez run or Hobbyking 1/8 Scale esc's burning up, post the link, but I think it may be a bit harder to find.

Way I see it, we all want a warranty on our gear, but it's better to have a product where you don't need to use the warranty isn't it?

Thumbs up

I agree with him ^ I'm also using the HK 120A 1/8 esc and I'm running a Teking 1350kv motor and 6s lipo setup. In my Tekno V4 converted truggy it barley touches 120* even without the mechanical brakes. Motor brakes should stress the ESC even more, but i've yet to make this ESC skip a beat once. The best thing is that it does sensored and sensorless!!

Here's the best part, the ESC and programming card can be had for less than 50$!!!

Here is what the inside looks like

Well the ones we use are rebranded ZTW

the first one in your link is a rebranded Aerlion, so is the second the third is a Toro rc rebranded and yeah I agree the Aerlion and Toro rebadges suck! The calibration issue is more on the Toro rebrands (Trackstar) and they copied the Castle software but the throttle deadband can't be adjusted so the ESC has problems reading the transmitter's Neutral point. Seems to happen more with the HK-3 radios and Spektrum gear than Futaba or the GT-2 and GT-3 radios.

The ZTW and Ez Run however I have found are quite good.

The ZTW rebrands I haven't experienced programming issues (and I use the 60A in my Wraith and the 35A in my TA05 which gets raced often.

This is the program card:

No different, the XE Run uses the same program card as the sensorless EZ run speedies.

The ZTW rebranded 35A and 60A are sensored, essentially they're Speed Passion Citrix esc's.
