i ran the 4000kv yesterday for the first time. It's pretty good. I used Randy's rx8 setup on tekin's website. It was plenty fast (not the fastest, but maybe top 5) and had decent torque. This was in a dingo using 65 current limit, and a 14t pinion. Temps was ok. I didn't have a temp gun, but i would guess around the 150ish... I had pretty decent runtime. Also, it's a lot lighter! Overall, happy buy!

The guys at my track that's running 4600kv, they are saying they are tunning it down by 50%! and with that, it's still blazing fast.

I think i may try a 16T for more speed. But the extra speed isn't really necessary!

How would you say it compares to a 550 can. Is the 4000kv closer to performance of the 5.5? I have an sc10 so the weight should be close to the durango.

i say the 4000kv is more in line of the 4.5t, but a little smoother. it's weird. it has more low end torque than the 4.5t, but it's smoother. and it's easier on your esc than the 4.5t. I see the 4-pole 4000kv as an improved/better 550 4.5t. i was able to have apple to apple comparisons as i used the same 14t pinion. However, there were some esc differences.

4.5t 550
current limit 80
0 deg timing

4-pole 4000kv
current limit 65
10 deg timing

not much difference, but i just wanted to state it anyway.

i think the biggest improvement is efficiency, weight, and a little more lower end torque.

Note, i had the 5.5t 550 as well. I felt under powered with the 550 5.5t. I went back to the 4.5t prior to going with the 4-pole 4000kv.

That sounds good. I was running a 4.5 with the 14mm rotor and liked that but the rotor went. So now I am back to the regular rotor.

Debating waiting on a 4600 or just getting the 4000 now.

Which ESC are you running with the 4-pole motor? Will an MMP handle it?

Right about 12 minutes before she hit's LVC. I have since bumped my LVC up slightly so it is more in the 11s the last race I was at.

Ive got the 4000kv in my sc10 4x4 and needed to gear up on my local track. I haven't got a chance to try it yet. Plenty of speed on the straight but needed the extra umph in the infield. Temps have been good even in some of our hot days.
