Thumbs up Jammin SCRT 10 Motor Question

I have a Jammin SCRT 10 that I will be racing at my local track. Limited to 2 cell lipo and I use the Mamba Max Monster ESC. There are 2 different tracks I run at, 1 high traction (they pour grape soda on the clay for high bite) it is small and twisty. 1 large which is open and loose with a couple of big jumps and long straights. I am having trouble deciding on a motor. I have it down between the Tekin 5.5 Novak Ballistic 5.5 and Castle 4 pole 3800. Could you give me some input as far as motor choices go and the reason why you would go with a particular motor. Also give some gearing info as well.
Thanks in advance

If you are not running a sensored ESC then there is not a lot of reason to run a sensored motor. The Castle 3800 rocks and is only ~$65 shipped on ebay.

Are there any advantages to maybe trading my Monster for say a R8 because of the sensorless deal?

Get a tenshock 4000kv or 4600 and call it good?

Sure. Given equal motors, sensored will always be better than sensorless. Sensored gives you no cogging, much more linear power band, etc. It's up to you to decide if something like the Tekin Pro4 at ~$150 is worth it over the ~$65 Castle 1410. IMO, indoor the Tekin might be worth it. Outdoor on a 1/8th style track probably not.

If you get an rx8 and run a sensored motor that also runs sensorless then you can run the rx8 in dual mode, giving you the best of both worlds. That said, I would run the Castle 3800 over any of the current 550 cans. My truck is a missile with it and I get 12-13 min runs out of a Gens ace 4800 saddle with motor temps between 130 and 140. The new Tekin motor however is pulls harder and is faster yet and is noticeably smoother- I just dropped one in the truck my brother races.
