Returning to the hobby after many years, a few stupid questions

Greetings,

I'll try to keep this short and simple.
Used to race an HPI electric many years ago, but had to leave hobby.

Wish to return, but no real place to race now, except my back yard, which is all low cut grass.

Looking for somehting to run about with out there, electric only for now.

Suggestions? Local hobby shops carries something called the "eVader" series. Price is reasonable, but there's always eBay...

Suggestions appreciated

Cheers!

Electric and running on grass?

I'd say probably a monster truck like the E-Maxx or the Kyosho Twin Force

The E-maxx would probably be your best option though...tall ground clearance, but still plenty of speed and releatively decent handling....and it's a monster truck...so lots of fun to jump:D

hmmm...

So running on grass with electric isn't considered a good idea?

I briefly looked at e-maxx on ebay, they are quite out of my price range!

Perhaps other suggestions, electric or otherwise?

An Emaxx is definately the best choice for bashing around the yard.I think the biggest thing is that the tires are too short for grass on most 1/10 scales. If you are just looking to bash around and have fun a Traxxas Stampede would be a better choice than the Evader-bigger tires, more ground clearance,a bit tougher, and about the same price.

Electric motors can get bogged down and overheat/melt if you play around in deep grass too much. You probably already knew that from your racing days.

I have never seen the evader in person but Duratrax seems to have a bad reputation for quality. You might be better off looking at a ready to run Team Associated or Team Losi buggy or truck.

Just make sure to buy something that you can easily get replacement parts for!
