Default Setting Proper Idle Speed

Hey all,

This question relates to my 1/10th scale nitro MT. By the way, does the MT count as a monster truck? I wouldnt care, but there is a different forum for that and I am always confused as to which one is more appropriate...

On to the question!

I would like to set the idle speed of my truck such that when the radio trigger is in the neutral position, the truck will roll, but not put power to the wheels. This to me is what idling is...

The problem is that when I set the idle that low, the truck stalls a lot. I find I am using the trim on my radio to creep it up and thus I wind up in a situation where there is no true idle and I need to keep the brakes on to have the truck remain stopped...

Is it this way for everyone or is my engine tuned wrong? All help appreciated...

Could be the engine but it sounds more like old clutch springs. If you are getting the idle low and the truck's wheels still spin when off of the ground then that is the problem.

They call the HPI truck "MT", but it's really not a monster truck..haha.

I believe that's the truck that comes with the one needle carburetor..and if so, that's bogus .

Your truck may be slightly too rich, which is causing you to have to keep the idle up too high.

If the truck stops when you stop the truck's tires from turning, then that means your clutch is bad.
