Timing/Boost/Turbo/Cheat/Rocket Ship!!!!
Alright so I just bought a Losi XXX-sct and installed the tuning kit for it(awesome product, pick one up) and decided that this truck would be a spec racer. (17.5T) Picked up a trinity epic D3 motor and wired it up to a Mamba Max Pro Sct edition. I really like the mmp, had it in my jammin 4x4. But now that I'm running Spec, I want all the motor advantage I can get...I have the Castle Field Link to the computer, so I can mess around with the settings on it. Awesome product to really fine tune your car... So I was wondering what all the fast guys are running for Turbo/Timing/Boost/c.h.e.a.t mode blah blah in 17.5 Motors?
Right now I have a 24 tooth Pinion and a 86T Spur Gear (Whatever Stock is not sure), I have 24 degrees of timing, and I have the castle c.h.e.a.t mode set to 2,700-9,700 rpm. could someone give me a little bit of insight on the cheat mode? I read the castle despriction on the computer, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Thanks
Edit: I know some a**hole is going to chew me out for not saying what track conditions are, tires, length of straight aways.. Seen it a few times before hahaha.
so I drive on a fairly large 10th scale track, the dirt is loam sand mix, depending on if it rained a few days before, traction is good.
The next track I drive on is an indoor tight track. Depending on the setup of the track, usually large jumps for the 8th scales, Dirt is hard clay, Nice and compacted, barcodes and suburbs are the best tires for sc.

hey glad you joined the club of advance timings. The mmp is a killer esc but just fyi if u got a tekin rs you can do even more timings.
only thing i would recomend would be to ask around the tracks to see what other people are running cheat mode wise. your gear ratios and timings see to be allright as far as i know though.

I am running a rustler with 18/86 and a novak balistic 17.5 with the CC MMP. I am still messing with it and I know your truck is heavier but I am running nutral motor timing and 40* cheat between 4500 and 8000, My friend and I are running back to back with the same truck. So after 2 races motor is around 125*. you might be able to advance it more but watch your temps. Sound like similar track conditions. www.skagitriverraceway.com

Alright so I havn't been able to get to a track yet (wednesday ill be going for practice), but I bumped the timing up to 30 degrees and I kept the rpm range the same. Ill try to bump the rpm range up a tad bit higher to see if i can get some pull outta this motor. btw the epic d3 is badass!!!

I have a MMP also and I found that my 17.5 spec class motor runs cooler on smart sense mode compared to sensored only mode (C.H.E.A.T) (a great acronym!) Anyways, be sure to check what the stock timing advance from the factory that the motor is set at. Many motor brands are set at 30 degrees advance on the production line. (Novak, Viper, etc)
Also, you really should be asking these question in the Official MMP thread. Someone there will explain how Cheat mode works. It is pretty simple really.
