If you are running in a boosted 17.5 class, get a Tekin RS. They make more power with a 17.5. I have SXX in my mod trucks and Tekin in my 17.5.

Any of the Duo 3 based motors are a great choice as well. I have been very happy with mine and in timing advanced I never get my motor over 140 degrees. I have yet to wear one out or even see a drop in performance of months of racing.

The New Team Epic ReVtech motors will be coming out soon as well which are going to be a really big hit!

The Duo 3 motors work great in both my cars. Awesome power, they run cool, pretty cheap. It's a winner.

Of course. I saw a regular 540 sized 7.5t D3 pushing around a SC10 4x4 the other day. Tons of power, got second in the main and then came off at 135 degrees, craziest thing I've ever seen.

But the regular 17.5 should work great, if you want more torque they sell a high torque rotor for about $25 that should help with that. Although I'm running the stock rotor in my SC-R and love it.

The stock spec is going to work better for stock motors providing more boost and turbo functions. Good for stock classes that allow you to boost the motor. The LRP speed controls are very smooth, although if you're looking for lots of boost and all that then the Tekin RS is the way to go, plus it's cheaper.

i have tried a bunch of different 17.5's and my favorite is the orion 17.5 with the timing on the can all the way up. Stock timing seemed like a turd, but as you increased the motor timing the motor really came alive. I haven't personally tried the tekin motor but i have tried almost all of the ones mentioned here. Honestly, NONE of them suck and each has it's own personality. no matter which way you go, i'm sure you'll be happy.

I run the HT rotors in my D3 all the time. It makes the motor run cooler and gives great bottom end. I just go up 1 tooth on the pinion with the HT rotor. My motors never get hot. I run full timing, boost and 9 turbo in my 22! Stupid fast and comes off at 140!

I personally run the Trinity D3 and LRP SXX V2 Esc in my SC10. It drives great, lot's of power, in fact my truck can clear triples that most other trucks have to double.

Power is great in the motor, runs cool. ESC has tons of features and have never had a problem with it. The Error codes on the ESC are a great help as well. Uses lights instead of sound to change modes and values. Great in a loud pit or at the races.

Good Luck on your choice, but if you go with the D3 and LRP, you will be on happy Rc Racer.

Cheers!
