I never contour the edges. I always contour the inside so they don't get in the bead when gluing. Most tire designs are going to a more 'flat' design anyway, and a far less 'ball round' profile. Hell, I stuff the full rear tire size insert in the front of of my 4wd as well.

I have always cut the rear and front inserts to the width of the rim, and contoured the inner edge. I think using the full size insert will help the sides of the tire to not collapse when cornering, making the car easier to drive. I think I'll leave the inserts to the full size from now on.

+1 for full inserts only trimming inside edge

Contouring Foams
Rounder tire = smoother on bumps & has better side bite....
No contouring the tire & like a flat profile ....
Flat = more forward bite, but not so good on bumps .

My proline inserts always come out contoured when the tire is done

At Trcr we are using the new Pro-Line SC insert for our 1/10th buggys.
We cut about 2 3/4 in off & glue back together...

If we don't get rained out, I'm going to be trying a set of M3 Hole-Shot 2.0s with these inside tonight.

They feel like they will work nicely, but who knows. If they are that awesome I will switch over. I've been using the Team Epic inserts and they are great too. But, using the molded inserts eliminated the whole foam trimming process and they seem to fit into the tire perfectly. I still had to do about the same amount of balancing though.

I wanted to get some thoughts regarding the fact that AE has gone away from the carbon parts. What gives, did they just decide to that carbon was not all it was cracked up to be or was it a cost cutting measure? I guessing the first since it seems that all the pros are using the plastic parts.

Anybody else run a Speed Passion v3 8.5 ?
Just picked one up and gave it a run, but it felt very flat and no top end. Speedy is a Speed Passion v.1 LPF
How did you gear it?
Have a v3 6.5 in th B44 and its got plenty of rip and very quick. No problem.
Just the 8.5 which feels like a 18.5....
Thanks
