hey guys,

what is the best motor to put in a b4 for a 90"x40 track ?

actually a run with a 13.5 and an LRP SPX Stock Spec and is great because in low speed corner and run good in strech with the advanded timing management of the spx... but i need a bit more speed and i think a 8.5 is too big for a 2wd class... what you think ?

If you are already running a battery with 40+ C rating and you are still looking for more speed, I would recommend a 10.5. Its the best motor for most guys at most tracks.

But, sometimes its better to upgrade your battery. Especially if you are using some older less powerfull cells.

When I upgraded from 25C to 40C it felt like my motor dropped a couple winds.

Ae has the track record the other's can't compare to so ?

You buy the loser , Ill just stick with the car and team that wins....

Could someone with experience with T4 gearing on indoor high traction track help me out. What would you run as far as spur/pinion on a T4 with a 17.5 and Tekin ESC?
How about the CC sidewinder with a 4600 or 5700kv??

Thanks in advance.

Here is my t4 setup eith a tekin rs, redline 17.5, and version 203. Please know that any other version will result in very different gearing.
Motor timing 0.
Geared 25-28 on the pinion and 75 spur.
Boost at 45.
Start rpm 2000-3000
end rpm 16000
no turbo.

If you need more power and motor temps are fine push boost all the way to 55.

That sounds great. Is there a pinion size that will not fit with the 75 spur that you have found??

Anyone use a 81T out there??

NOT TRUE! The cars I have that sit on the shelves, NEVER BREAK!!!

I'm struggling with gearing as well. Just picked up a new Stock motor, and was using the stock spur. One of the local pros told me that it would be wise to drop down in spur to bring the motor fwd. The last time I raced, I was the only one in stock so they threw me into mod class. After my first race, i went w/ my 12x2 brushed motor. I think I have the 76 Spur on it now. All the gearing in the book is based off the 81t spur. Where can I find options for gearing the 75t and 71t spur gears.

Just looked and I have 21t pin, 75t spur and 12x2 motor.

I run 75/26 and love it. Thats on a indoor high traction track with a 100 ft straight. I usually run 75/28 until they changed the layout and I was getting pulled in the infield. The motor seemed to pull better and run cooler with the 75/26.

In buggy I run 72/30 on the same track.

im guessing you arent racing? you didnt give me a class which allows me to think so. an 8.5 isnt too much. i run on a track thats smaller, and some even have 7.5's. 8.5s arent too much.

MOmo

If you have recommended gearing for a particular spur gear then look at this example:

Say it recommends 81 spur and 24 pinion.

81/24 = 3.375.

The pinion will rotate 3.375 times to make the spur gear rotate once. If you multiply that by the transmission ratio for the B4 or T4 (2.60) it calculates the Final Drive Ratio (FDR)

3.375 X 2.60 = 8.775

If you have a bigger spur gear than what is recommended you will need a bigger pinion gear to produce the same FDR. If you have a smaller spur gear than what is recommended you will need a smaller pinion gear to produce the same FDR. Which gear you need will depend on how much smaller or bigger the spur gear is to what is recommended.

Using the gears you have available would equal:

75/21 = 3.57

3.57 X 2.60 = 9.282

This is geared higher than the example I provided above and will be a slower overall speed. The higher the FDR the slower the car will be if you are applying it to the same motor.

Each motor has recommended gearing based on a FDR for the wind of motor being used. Get out your calculator and do the math.

Kyle, are the new revised shock towers plastic or the Carbon like the Factory Team stuff?
