What world are you living in? The GTB will not go anywhere near to keeping up with a hobbywing/speed passion esc with the new stock software.

hobbywings are cheap, gtbs are nicer.

Try this handy site:
www.comeseethis.com
You choose your vehicle and motor, then you can change the spur gears to match the selection you have. Once you've done that it will generate a chart that you can print and keep in your pit box. Pretty neat.

Anybody know what motors to compare them to on the site?

If your running a boosted (Tekin) system dont gear it based on temps you will slow the car down. The new software runs very cool vs the older softwares so gear it based on feel not heat. I would run 30/72 in a b4 with a 17.5 and 28/72 in truck. I run 25/78 with my 13.5 T4 at CRCRC.

it depends on the track honestly and how big it is.

AND
I've been told to replace the stock turnbuckles in the standard B4 (silver) with the Factory Team Blue ones because the stock ones bend.
Is this true of the T4 as well? With the T4 RTR, for just bashing, what parts need replacing for durability? Turnbuckles?
What are the weak points on the T4?

T4 or B4, I'd still like to know why someone would run a 78 over an 87 or vice versa.
I predict the 87 would give better acceleration and 78 better top end, but then, I remember somebody saying something about the motor being closer to the center of the buggy...
