O-man .....

On the tracks I run on 10.5 would not perform very well with a 30T due to excess heat....

MI tracks are on a good size. like 120 by 70. Long stights and some ok traction. My friend also ran the same gearing and we both never had a problem.

For a 8.5 in a b4 try 23 to 25/78. I usually run a 24/78 area with no heat issues and plenty of pop.

Default Overheating T4

Hey guys...I have a FT T4 that I just recently built and all of a sudden it has started thermaling and the motor is hot as hell to the touch. I just rebuilt the diff a day ago, and I am running a Novak Havoc 3s with a SS4300 (10.5) and i have it geared at 87/23. I was wondering if anyone has things I should take a look at.

Your geared way to high for a 3S 11.1 V lipo setup. Drop to maybe a 18/87 and it should help a lot. The 4300 is also non sintered so it will lack the torque of a new 10.5

depends on the size of the track, i tried 81/23 and 78/21 for a tighter track.

I am only running 2s...it's just the Havoc 3s speedo.....I don't run 3s in any of my cars.

JW91, sounds like you may also be ready for a stiffer rear spring.

Since thats the case you are most likely under geared. I would try a 23/78 or 24/81 to start with and you can probably gear up from there.

You are way undergeared, Id try 78s 25p or you could try 28p with 87 spur if it fits.
