i run a t4 + b4 , when i went lipo i didnt like the way they handled , kinda unstable , took a piece of 1/2 round lead 6 " long and pounded it flat to the size of the battery box and about 1/16 thick , weighs 1.5 oz. still 3.5 oz. lighter than with sub c's but makes min weight , and handles close to the same , ray

I purchased a peice of lead flashing, which is usualy for sealing stuff. Its about 2.5mm thick. I cut a peice to fit the battery tray (short by 3cm, perfect width) and by chance is was 100g which was the difference in weight between an IB3800 and the Orion Platinum 4800 lipo. I had my first run on sunday with the lipo/brushless, the weight was perfect, handled like before with NiMH packs except for some understeer, which I fixed by pushing the lead peice forward.

I saw someone else had posted that they were machining peices from stainless, they looked really neat and clean, but mine is just stuck down to the bottom with cloth tape so you dont even see it.

Yeah, it usualy comes in rolls of like 3m and 10m, they cost 100's though. The guy was nice enough to cut me off a 30cm peice for 4 bucks!

One of the problems with the plate idea is you can only use a very , very thin strip...

There is`nt much room to move the battery above the chassis ...

Just so you know ....

Flashing is the stuff... My 4800 fits in easy, its the battery strap that is a squeeze, still fits and doesnt bend at all but my lipo rarely gets removed from the car.

Default Flashing

You can get the lead flashing from a home improvememt store. They have the lead roof vents used for plumbing. There is pleny of flat pieces in there to make different size strips that you cut yourself. It cost about 12 bucks.

I finally got my whole set-up going. B4 FT Novak GTB 5.5 brushless and SMC 5000mah lipo. I didnt know what pinion I shoudl start with so I got a 16t and 17t. Well 16t isnt big enough to reach the spur but the 17t just makes it. I took it out in the parking lot and WOW!! its fast. I think it could smoke my RC8 in a drag race. I dont have the right tires or a personal transponder for it yet but I am going to try and race it this weekend anyway.

I wasnt going to go lipo but I couldnt find any matched nimh packs anywhere. Then I got to thinking with lipo I only needed 1 pack since you dont have to discharge and cycle them like nimh. With the 500mah pack I ought to be able to just repeak it a couple times a day. I only needed one and I dont have to take it out of the car. Between that and brushless racing this thing is going to be so easy I may as well run my 1/8th scale too.

Does anyone make a lipo saddle pack. I'm toying with the idea of a B44 too.

From what I have seen, most are using MaxAmps.
