I think a 3500 or so kv 4 pole motor with a decent, easily programmable (limited features) waterproof esc for under $100 would rock the rtr world's ass.

You must be talking about the Castle Creations SCT combo
Can be found for ~$90
Not waterproof though, AFAIK.

The most popular class where we race is 13.5T BL.
So a combo with a sensored motor and a waterproof ESC for under $100 must be a good seller.

ESC Tunability: forward/reverse, timing.

+1...and it has to be reliable. Castle hits this price range, but their offering is sensorless. Novak has offerings that are close, but not reliable.

The MMP is sensored... But no good spec motors (17.5t or 13.5t) from castle that are sensored...

A small footprint, laptop tunability, and low price (less than $125) are good for me!

All this crazy modern brushless technology yet reliability suffers. I don't get it.

Your kidding right"?? The new guys all want the fastest motor that is
out there for the least money so they can go down every straight away
and tear every wall down at the end of them. Thats what 95% of them
want and everyone that race's R/C cars knows that (I thought?)

Any more questions?? LOL"

He's talking rtr, which to me means entry level, which to me means not sensored. Just a smooth non sensored would be perfect.

Unless of course some genius could make a combo that ran nearly equally as well sensored as not. Hm..

You got the idea. I was thinking along the lines of a step up from the stock combos in the rtr trucks but still competitive in club racing but reliable enough to bash.

I was just curious what the rest of you thought. I apreciate all of your input and it will be noted.

Sayin. Castle's combo is damn close to tha mark, but almost too fast really for club racing (not legal to run in spec), and the esc...well, we all know that's where the corners are cut in that combo.

Yea 4 poles arent cheap to make and in order to keep the cost of the combo low I think the esc suffered. IMO
