Best 13.5 for SC

I am looking at purchasing a new 13.5 motor for my losi xxx-sct. I just wanted to know if the Tekin was the best motor or should i be looking at Novak or Trinity?

lots of opinions are gonna roll out, but if you got the bucks, tekin or viper. Lots of folks love those D3's. I did not.

I have ran a Novak Ballistic in my sc10 for over a year now with no issues what so ever.

+1on the D3 and the price. I am not a fan of ballistic or LRP x-12 motors

I've run LRP for years and like an LRP X11 in mine, but if I was going to buy new I'd just get a Tekin and be done. I've tried an X12 but something kept causing it to cog so I had to pull it. Haven't been able to find out the issue with it yet.

i've got friends running the D3 with good luck too.

Older software in an LRP speedo. The new V2 software is required in order to run an X12. The issue was never in the motor, but in their speedos.

i personally only run the X12s

Ahh.....good to know. Didn't think of that. As luck would have of I just picked up a v2 so I'll give it another try. Thanks for the info.

i run the x-12 13.5. it just runs a tad hotter than others.

+1 lrp motors are one of the smoothest out there!

I recommend Viper 13.5's. They are some of the torquiest motors out there, and can easily be geared to the moon and still run cool!

I love them in my SC trucks. I had a guy drop one in his truck at a big race right before the main... said it was a night and day difference over his Orion's

They don't run hotter, they just need to be geared a tad lower as they have more timing built into the motor by default. Most people over gear or over time the X12s which leads to extra heat and unwanted failure. I also think they are a tad more efficient at bringing heat to the can of the motor from the core of the motor, which also might account for a higher temp reading on the can itself... The motors themselves don't run hotter.

See my response to your question on RCShortcourse.

It's the esc that wins races not the motor.

I run a LRP x12 octa-wind 6.5 with a v1 LRP TC Spec with no issues at all....they do both run warm(esc/motor) and Im geared correctly 18/78 for Kyosho FS2...I just ordered the fan for my TC Spec as It didnt come with one....do they come with screws by chance bro?

In the sense that the driver purchases the winning esc, I would agree.;):ha:
