Default D3 and big rotor...

The D3 with the 12.5mm HT rotor is a great setup for SCT. Many other brands that were suggested above a great motors. I prefer the D3 because they run cool and have great power. With the 12.5mm HT rotor it will give you the extra TQ you will want in an SCT. If you can run timing advance as well you will have a beast on your hands. We run the 13.5 with boost in the mod class all the time without any shortage of power!

Default Good Setup.

I have a wicked fast RS setup for the D3 13.5 if you want it for Short Course. PM me if you want the details!

The D3's that I have (13.5 and 17.5) are the first motors I've had that I could tell were all around more powerful then the other major brands....

Not all people experience it... and I THINK its more previlent in the higher wind motors, like 10.5 and up. Can't help ya with info the the LRP esc fan, I don't run them. Tekin in spec, and Speedpassion in mod for me.

I just picked up a viper 13.5 the other day, and it's clearly better than the D3 I had, the Orion I had, the team icon I had, the Novak SS I had, and the duo 2 I had.

I have no idea what those viper guys are doing, but I'm able to gear up a few teeth on the pinion, and things run even cooler? I know several folks that report similar results locally. Gearing up as much as 4-5 teeth from previous motors, and gaining only maybe 4-5 degrees. There's no loss of torque on the bottom either, and they are smmoooth like a prom queen's thighs. Insane.
