Default Why won't electric 1/8 scale catch on outdoors

So I won my first series ever running my Eco. Problem is I did it by beating two other guys. Winner of the same series in sportsman nitro buggy won a x ray 808, motor and a pipe, even the sc guys were racing for a Durango. What we were racing for was much less. I'll leave it at that. It was much more fun running outdoors rather than tiptoeing around a 1/10 track but I don't see going back. It felt like we were not welcome. Anyone else see this or am I imagining things

Hmmm may I ask what track your talking about (the indoor one)? You can pm me the name if you don't wanna post it out in the open...... I also would love to run on an open outdoor larger track but there is none in my area..... I have my rc8e-conversion just sitting on the shelf in my garage waiting to hit a nice outdoor track......I may just cave in and drive an hour away just to finally get it running for once.....

I read it as he didn't feel welcome at the outdoor track.

That sucks! I have seen 1/8th E buggy get much more popular around my area this year. I just got an ECO too and my first two races with it had 25 e buggies and 12 e buggies. It was awesome! They are getting much more popular than just last year. i really think that in 2-4 years we will be running sportsman and pro e buggies, not just nitro.

Indoors is fine, just small. Both ocrc and wcrc are very accommodating to 1/8 scales but passing is really hard I spent most of my time getting out of the way of the fast guys. Outdoors you can actually set people up and pass. Not just wait for them to clip a pipe. Even big races the support still isn't there. It's like it doesn't fit anywhere. To big for electric guys, to simple for nitro guys.

I think on club nights they might. Don't think I could make 15 minutes though.

you could make it 15 min depending on how big the mah is on your lipo and the cell count .

a guy i race with can make it 15 min with a 4c 5000 c with a 2200 system on his truggy.

The class has never really taken off here either. Most of the 1/8th scale guys seem to just prefer nitro, and cost seems to drive away most of the 1/10th racers. Personally I think 1/8th scales are bad as*, but the cost really keeps me away. That and the fact that I have multiple 1/10th cars I can haves fun with already.

Yeah...I am in the same boat. Have a D8TE and D8E and no where to go...I am selling the D8E and putting it towards a Sc10 4x4 even though I hate doing it...

Because some vehicles are just supposed to be powered with a nitro engine and an 1/8th off road buggy is definitely one of those vehicles.

I think it was the track thats just not accomodating to electric 1/8.
The other tracks in our area welcome electric 1/8.

I used to agree with that until I tried to keep my boys and myself all running Nitro truggy and they had no tuning skills. It got old especially when we race in such varied temperatures, it just got to frustrating.
