A few pages back a vortex was mounted but my experience is that the rx8 is the best esc on the market. I use to run castle and the gain in control that the tekin gives you is amazing. It was very noticeable in the sc 4x4 too.

1+ on that one Mamba is a great speedo perfect for a revo or basher but the tekin stuff is super smooth many people coming from other brands get hooked once they experience also their service is top notch.

porkchop 11-25-2011 10:59 PM

the rx8 is good i give it that but for the feeling of smooth it just not for me.
orion is the only way to go so i made it fit.

and yes you can get a 80amp hobby wing in there if you cut the taps of the case.

Stupid question but I have to ask. I only know brushless motor ratings by turns, I have no idea how kv ratings work. Does anyone have a comparison chart and second, what are most of you running?

Thanks

1/8 e motors go by kv rating and even some 1/10 stuff has started to ditch the turns rating. It all depends on what battery setup you are using. Some guys will run a sallee kv rated mother like a 1400 on 6s to achieve longer runtimes. IMO you want o be between 1700 and 1900 in a buggy on 4s. If you are new use the 1700 until you get use to it. You will actually be faster with the 1700. Once you get a feel for it bump it up to 1900. Anything more is too much IMO.

Frank L gave good practical advice, just to append a bit the kv number gives how high rpms a motor makes per volt.

Man Chambers! and I thought you were flying last time I was out when you and Weber were having at it! So are you going to give me all your secrets or are you going to enjoy watching me suffer, haha.

Main changes were to go to green rear springs, blue front springs, and stand the front shocks up to the #4 hole. Also went to AE 32.5wt oil in the front as well as rear. Changed the front hinge pin inserts from 0-0 to 1 down-1 down. Running AKA SS slicks, as the HB slicks get too much bite when the track is grippy, and it wants to traction roll. First setup had 10K in the center diff, but this made the car too dead feeling, went back to 5k in the center, rotates much better.
