Another method is using the nut or button head that holds the piston in place.
Depending on if you have the solid shaft using the flat nut or hollow with a button head.....with the shaft in the shock body use your hex driver or socket driver to hold the assembly as you screw the eyelet on. |
Needle nose vise grips and a rag. Never scratched a shaft using them for 18 years.

with my shock shafts and especially the tight turn buckles. I like to pre thread them by putting the shaft or turnbuckle in my drill on slow setting, and hold the eyelet end with a adjustable wrench on the flat part and thread it all the way up and down a couple of times. You end up getting nice straight threads. Just be sure to go slow so you dont heat up the plastic.

What order do the inserts go in? For example, the stock rear toe insert is 6 out, so is there an insert that will give more toe out?

Has anyone tried removing the battery tray and side guards all together? I took mine off and was thinking about a different way to mount batteries. Tekno makes some trays I'm debating on that only weight 25 grams so both would be 50 grams plus a couple for velcro straps. the stock versions with sideboards hardware and the carbon straps instead of doors weigh 160. 100-110 grams reduced sounds pretty good.

Just trying to cut some weight! Plus a few of my batteries have leads that interfere with either style cover. Still waiting on everything I need to put it together.
