When the ebuggy came out there was an addendum that said to make sure the gear mesh is tight as it will loosen up after running it. I followed these instructions and everything came out fine. |
I am currently running the stock shock set up on my Serpent. I like the feel as they are plush but have ample pack. I am thinking of going up a bit in oil wt. Problem being I am used to wt and not cst. From what I gather the stock oil is equivalent to 25. I am thinking of using 27.5 or 30. What is everyone using? Also what benefit do the webbed bladders have? What pistons are people using? I know Serpent has an aftermarket piston. Lastly what does it mean when the set up sheet says the hole is closed?

Hey folks, I'm about to take the plunge for a new 811be and wanted to get some input. I've searched the thread but can't find what I'm looking for. For electronics, I was planning on the Tekin Rx8/2050 combo. I also wanted to run a 1267 or 1268 servo, but I don't want to run into the brown out 'glitch' problem. I will be using the Airtronics 461 receiver. I run the Rx8 with this receiver in my SCTE with a 1258 and I had to add an external BEC. Sooooo, anyone here running this combo on 4s without the BEC? I've seen servo recommendations and different ESCs, but just curious on this combo. Thoughts?

Yes, I've doubled and triple checked my end points to ensure there's no overtravel or binding. I first ran an Orion Vortex SC in a Kyosho Ultima with a Savox 1258 and never had an issue. I then picked up a Losi SCTE and ran the Rx8 with the 1258 and it would drop out with just part way turning. Sooooo, now I'm on the fence about what to run in the new Serpent. I guess I really don't mind the external BEC, but I'd rather not use it if I don't have to. I like the Rx8 ESC and I'd like to just deal with one product line.
Redbeard, have you ever found the 1258 to not be powerful enough for the Serpent? It seems most folks opt for something well into the 200s for torque in their 1/8 buggies. The 1258 is rated at 166oz-in; still pretty darn stout for sure. |

So I just bought and built an 811e. The drive train seems to be binding. Is this normal with this car? I've never had a 8th scale with such a stiff drive train.
The diffs aren't crunchy, but there seems to be some binding in front and rear diffs when I put the diff in the housing and the diff pinions. I can't really see the mesh very well because of how the diff cases are designed. I am going to have to break down the entire front and rear of the car again. |
The diffs are supposed to be a little tight at first. After the first hour or two they will be smooth.

I'm not talking about the diffs. The diffs seem smooth when I turn the outdrives. It is just when I put the diffs into the diff case and tighten the diff case down, there appears to be some binding either with diff case or the diff doesn't mesh properly with the front and rear drivetrain pinions that go into the diff case.
Also try backing the bottom diff case screws out a bit |
Your drivetrain will be tight but as stated make sure you don't over-tighten the diff cases to much this will cause extra binding.
