I know this is late and might have been answered but I just came across this. But to answer the question, yes and no. If you want to go mid motor some day, It's cheaper just to get a new MR v3.

Off the top of my head, you will need a new...
gear box
out drives
screw kit for the gear box
rear brace mount set
body (mind didn't fit that great)

I think that's it, i'm getting old though...lol

just got my V3 today and started assembling it, installing the ball diff for now (ordered a new one) and wondered if anyone else has noticed a bunch of side to side play in the diff, guess Im going to have to run out and grab some outdrive shims tomorrow.

BTW I saw a few people ask if the V3 come with hexes, mine did.

Please use the other Yokomo B-Max2 MR/RS thread. Yes there is play, its not really a big deal. You can shim it tighter if you want with .2mm per side IIRC.
As for the v3, the FACTORY version is the only one that comes with the hexes.

yeah i figured the later v.3's were starting to come with the hex conversions. it's a great deal if you ask me.

All of the Bmax2 Mr's can be build rear or mid so they are all technically a "rear motor version". You can back-order one at Amain or pay a bit more and get one shipped from Banzai.

Did Yokomo discontinue all of the Bmax2 line? Looking for a V3 and can't find one anywhere.

Rccss.nl still has them. The seller is a great guy and will help you out if you have any questions.

Banzai as well: http://banzaihobby.com/yokomo-b-max2mr3 - I can vouch for them being great to deal with from the U.S. also.
