I feel the truck will be much more balanced with motor and should be fine with power for indoor track.. I'm using the sxx v2 esc also.. Thanks
I'm running a X12 6.5t plenty of power for indoor. with 30% boost and timing. Temp comes off at 150c after a full pack 10+ minutes of running.

it's far more then just "bling," it's added weight, 5oz heavier versus stock, that beats having to use lead weights stickied to your truck, also gets rid of the possibility of one of those weights coming off. second, just about all flex is removed from the situation, meaning you don't need a chassis brace. I've had mine since they released them, love it and wouldn't look back.

Ill start with my set up

-Tekin pro4 4000kv
-mmp w/bec
-62/12 32 pitch gearing
-clutch basket w/ garodisks
-20/20 pulleys, belt tension 3/3
-30k/7k diff oils
-I dont have the pin mod
-clicker is full time 4wd

There are a couple things that i cant figure out. First, my motor seems to run hotter than most that Ive seen in this thread, after 10m the motor is sitting around 175 degrees. Ive checked for binding and cant really seem to find any but the truck definately doesnt feel as "loose" as other sc10s ive driven at my track.

Second, I seem to chew up spur gears like crazy. I ran the truck for 6 months or so with the same spur that came with the kit but recently something changed and sometimes ill go through 1-2 spurs in a night. Ive had guys at the track check my gear mesh and it seems to be fine. I thought maybe my slipper wasnt slipping enough to i backed it off. No change. I took the basket off and replaced the garodisks with 1 hd pad and a standard just to see if that stops the problem but it didnt.

Third/Fourth, my truck makes this high pitch screeching noise on hard launches and on power out of corners. I sounds like the slipper but its MUCH louder than any other sc10 ive ever seen. you can hear it over every other sct and 1/8th scale on the track. It also make the knocking/clicking noise ive read about in this thread and I cant seem to track it down. Ive shimmed the diff and checked the assembly of the gear box, diff, idler gear and top shaft. All that looks right.

Whatever the issue is seems to be coming from the rear gearbox area, I just cant see anything wrong.

I have the same motor and am geared 14/58, so I would say you are undergeared and or have some binding goinng on. Remove the belt and the slipper assembly off the rear, then check the topshaft to see if the gearbox is smooth and free by spinning the topshft of the front and rear.

Turned out just like his , looks great ...

*comparing to the standard 2s 5000 Lipo position in the middle of tray

saddle packs mounted forward have...

more ft pull & acceleration

more steering

less rear whip or roll

so far quite pleased with ...

next step ?

shocks & set-up & race Saturday night
That is great info Geo, Thanks

Make sure your motor plate is sitting down inside the groove. I had some similar problems and that ended being the cause.

Hard pack, geared at 93/16. I like it much better then the MMP Tekin 550 5.5t i was running. I think i'm going to settle on a 540 5.5t.

My opinion 540 for indoor and 550 for outdoors. I think the SC10 is so versatile you can run it with any motor or setup. You cant say that about other SC out there.

I ran a larger outdoor track and added turbo for the straight with a 2p 540 motor and got the top end I needed to run with the 4 pole motors. Set the delay .75 and there was no change in motor temps.

I use the Tekin RS Pro and at that event I used a 6.5 Murfdogg motor. I have been running a 5.5 lately though.

yes, get a rebuild kit and add two stock shims on each side and that should cure it for ya.

now's the time you can put a different weight oil in too.

your high pitch sound definitely sounds like rear diff. time for a rebuild kit and adding extra shims. It's a giant p.i.t.a to get at but more than likely that is where your problem lies.
