Any tips on the build? Still up in the air on a esc and motor combo so keep the suggestions coming. Also what lipo do u guys suggest?

Either buy a power driver and bits or a 3mm tap. Other than what is on the first post of this thread, the build is pretty easy.

Tekins pro 4 motor was just released a couple weeks ago. It is better than the castle 1410. Both are 4 pole but the tekin is sensored and the castle isnt. Nothing beats the castle's price though!

I like the LRP sxx v2 tc spec esc. It is expensive but well worth it. I had nothing but promblems with MMP.

For Lipo, I personally use the Gens Ace lipos. You can get them from www.hobbypartz.com they are great batterys for the price. They give alot of punch and run time.

I prob go with the castle at first for the motor. I was looking at the combo with the 1410 and a esc. Its only like a hundred bucks but I want your guys opinions on that combo before I buy it. the part number on the combo Im looking at is csec9000cms. I dont mind spending more than the hundred bucks that this one cost, I would like a tekin system but wanna keep it under 200 bucks

Is that the combo with the sidewinder esc?

That system is a good price, but its not reliable for a 4x4. The esc ends up cooking. Even if you put the fan on the esc it wont last long. The sidewinder does better in a 2wd.

Get the MMP and the 1410 motor. I'm not sure if those two are sold as a combo. The MMP is a better esc than the Sidewinder esc that comes in that combo.

I know some guys will say it isn't up for duty in the 4x4's but I've been running mine (Sidewinder and 1410 motor) all season in my SC10 4x4 and have had NO problems with overheating. I put the fan from the motor onto the ESC and run no fan on the motor geared at a 15T pinion (32P) and the thing has been incredibly fast and reliable! The highest temps I've seen was around 140 degrees on the motor and about 100 degrees on the ESC. The only issue is with a slight hesitation each time I get spun around, but that's an issue with being sensorless. Is it as smooth and robust as an RX8 + motor...no, but all-in-all, I'm really impressed with this system for the money.

I have that 1410/MMP combo in my truck. I'm running 20/93 48pitch gearing and the motor never gets above 135. I'm not sure what everyone else I race against has in their trucks, but their no faster at all. Hands down, the best combo for the money.:D

Might wanna consider the Speed Passion GT2.1 at $99 or the Hobbywing 120amp at about $80. Both are great for 550 and 540 motors. I run the GT2.1 w/Tekin 550 5.5 with good success. Temps arent even a problem.

anyone? I have read quite a bit here in the last two days, I have seen the one with the traxxas rocker arm mounted along the center line but still can't find the post on the longer carbon tube one. I would like to order the stuff all together and don't want to order too much. I think it was 1/4" but I would appreciate someone to confirm or correct what I think I remember.
