Yea, as long as you are running a chassis brace I wouldnt worry about it. I would try to keep it away from the edge though, the further toward the center the better in my mind.

the piece im talking about i doubt has anything to do with the stiffness of the chassis from front to back but more from side to side and the long ft chassis brace does nothing for side to side flex.

i circled the part iam talking about on the chassis in the pic below.

I know what piece you are talking about, its fine. In my mind the chassis brace does help a bit with side to side flex as well...If the chassis twists the distance between the two mounting points gets longer therefor the chassis brace should help.

I was more worried about the top cover piece breaking when I cut mine, I cut both the top and bottom, but that would only really happen under front to back flex.

Just picked up a 4x4. Love It so far. Just had a gearing question. Running a Novak havoc pro sc with a 4.5 Novak motor. What gearing do you guys recommend for cool temps (I race on a medium size/medium speed hard packed track).

i had to do a little cutting to the top piece as well but just enough to let the air through. its still intact.

Is that a 550-size can you`re runnin? If so, you can run 12 tooth with 62(32p) until your Lipo says no and still not temp (but check it anyway), and go on up from there (user has mentioned getting even cooler temps going up to 15 tooth!?). In short, for a medium sized track, run whatever makes you comfortable/fastest with no worries (but still, check temp anyway).

If its a 540 can, then I'm not sure. In any case, lots of gearing suggestions about 24k posts ago (very first post of the thread).

Have fun, man.

I dunno what you're talking about. lol. I've had push since day 1. I have never solved it no matter how much I asked here. C-diff, weight dist, etc. Nothing changed that. It might be a little worse than my Slash 4x4's push.

I have to reduce my throttle to 0% before I start the turn and into 60% of the turn before I can throttle out of it, or I slingshot out of any decent lane.

If you ever get to drive my 4x4 ?

You probably have trouble getting down the straight , be like you never experience steering before...

You could go either way, I still like the blue rears better than any of the fronts I have tried. I am still in the testing phase though.

I could never get my 4x4 to push, it either spun out or traction rolled till I put blue front springs in the rear :D

If the truck is pushing on slow tight turns, ride height would be the first thing I'd tweak. Correct me if I'm wrong but having push on slow turns means there's not enough weight transfer to the front. On faster turns your steering might be good because of more momentum all the way through. Also try getting some more rotation by loosening the rear up.

rcgod 06-09-2012 08:00 AM

Ride height question. What's a good starting point and where do you measure from? Center of chassis where it droops down or under gear boxes?

JLinney 06-09-2012 08:16 AM

Not sure if I am measuring in correct spot, but I am liking 24-25mm measured at flat portion of each corner on chassis.

darryl80 06-09-2012 08:28 AM

a mamber on here a guy that is local to me told me to buy the front spring set so i am going to do that. dont need to buy them right away. first i want to get the complete truck built then worry abot buying them.

SOuthernFRIED 06-09-2012 09:34 AM

Ok here's my setup..
Let me know how to get rid of the push :)
