Talking with a new team driver for AE, yeah he is limited to only what they have. Tough as some of that stuff aftermarket is better.
What was the issue you were getting with spur gears? Anything to do with the ball diff? Any concerns though with heat in that area using plastic versus metal? I didnt remove the motor plate that i had made for the Idler gear and i think the motor moves under hard hits, totally my fault and i didnt bring an extra motor plate with me, the shop had none in stock. |

+1. I believe you guys are taking it a little far saying AE stole the ideas. AE has always updated every vehicle they have built with a FT edition. Just because guys are fixing issues in the field on their own and profiting from their ideas(which were all evidently good ones)doesn't make AE a idea thief for following trend. Alot of engineering went into this truck and it pisses me off to see people bashing on the truck because it was not perfect out of the gate. What has been perfect out of the gate for anything? These changes would have been made with or without the people who have contributed their ideas and fixes. I do not mean to offend any of the people who came up with a better solution for a completely new platform and you guys have my utmost respect but if anyone on this thread thinks that AE could not get the truck fixed without them is in the dark.
Other than the standard bling, what did AE do in the FT that was not first created and tested by people on this thread? |

One thing, is if a truck(like many of the others) comes "out of the gates" having faulty parts that are prematurely wearing and thus are eventually corrected after consumers start to make noise about the issues, that seem common in there trucks. Another thing, is to have the original design of certain components completely redisigned based on consumers constant shortcomings during what Team Ae's R&D process should have seen coming. We basically did the R & D for this vehicle. In most cases with any other company, that is a mortal sin. With team Ae and there relentless/unwaivering fan base, its accepted and forgotten. Some have used (and will continue too, till the death) the excuse that the original Sc10 went through the same process b/f it became what it is now. They use this as an a example of how things change and get better after all the kinks are eventually worked out in the market. There is a fundamental difference that debunks this comparison beteween sc10 2wd and 4wd. That is, that those common failures (arms, front bumpers and chassis breaking in pcs) encountered on the original 2wd were mostly part durability issues and hence running changes to make those failing parts stronger were made. The Sc10 4wd, on the other hand has had many crucial components/parts re engineered (not made stronger like the 2wd's case). I don't think team ae "stole" from anybody, as I agree, and would hope that they would have figured out these changes eventually imo. They did though, however, have us do THERE R & D, which they saw, tried and intelligently followed and appeased too. Regardless, I could care less that they "copied" others ideas. Who doesn't do that in a highly competative industry, especially in one that has to do with racing :D? Rather, I am slightly miffed (and only slightly ) that others did some crucial R&D on some crucial components for them. I appreciate and still have my sc10 4wd for a reason. I see its upside and limitless potential!! Every truck has had and will continue to have there strong and weak points! I hope Ae doesn't have to give up or downgrade (like some have spewed) this platform b/c than I will be more miffed and "in Barney", or rather, Id be proper fuc#ed. |
