Cleaning agents
 

Hi all,
Was wondering if I could get some opinions and suggestions on what cleaning agents and methods you use to clean your off-road vehicles.
I am currently cleaning my off-road buggies with an all purpose agent called SIMPLE GREEN, along with high pressure air. So a spray and air clean. Would like to hear your suggestions and opinions?

I have been using a mixture of Simple Green, Methyl Hydrate Alcohol and a cap full of WD-40. Spray on and let sit for a minute and blow off with compressed air. I find this mixture works really well as it dissipates dirt and water quickly and leaves plastic parts looking new. The suggestion for this mixture can be found on the various forums.

i use simple green and a detailing brush (basically a tooth brush) to get in the cracks, and since i hate dirt in my chassis screws i take a pocket knife and scrape the dirt out once a week, which is normally how often i run at the track.

simple green on tires works great too, brought some panther clay compounds back to life i had in my garage for a year. if i want really sticky tires for the day ill use a bit of extra on the tires and clean them 1-2 hours before i go to the track, softens up the rubber, and as far as i can tell with stock truck it doesnt accelerate tire wear!:nod::tire:

If U are removing all the electronics and you want to do it fast i have used tire cleaner that u get from any car place. spray it on and wipe it off. chassis looks brand new.

I prefer to use Kalgard products for cleaning (primarily Degreaser and Prep-N-Shine), but Simple Green works great also.

Kal Gard or i simple green scrub then blow it off. I prefer Kal Gard contact cleaner, prep & shine, and degreaser though. Also Kal Gards Prep & shine is electronics safe for a quick track clean or shelf clean.

Air compressor and Kal Guard prep and shine on the chassis/components. Keeps everything looking new, plus it has a pleasant smell. You don't get bombarded at the track or your work area with tons of chemical odors with the Kal Guard. Simple Green all the way on the tires.

Just dont use the Kal Guard prep and shine on your bodies....not good for lexan.

When it gets real bad.. I just take out all the electics and throw in it the dish washer. then spray it all down with wd and blow off with air compressor... Looks brand new... :nod: Of course not with dishes in it.. :p I have done this with all kinds of my trucks fo many years... :)

what air compressors are you guys using, i started into looking at making the purchase and have zero clue of what im looking for.

Simple Green is the best and works as a pretty good traction compound on offroad tires.

For the air compressor I just went to harbor freight and picked up a 1 gallon pancake compressor. I think it was even on sale for $45? I figure even if this thing blows up a year down the line I wouldn't be out too much money. It does 125 psi and has worked flawlessly for what I need it to do.
