Had a buddy of mine make these up for my "Sand Dollar" Chevy S10 prerunner build. Believe it or not, they're all running off one of the empty 5v slots in the receiver. According to him, this is the result of "not using those cheap sh*tty Chinese LEDs that the off-the-shelf kits come with"
Pictures were taken in a pitch black basement using a cheap digital movie cam with night mode turned off.
^^From this last picture, you can see the two outside LEDs are wide-angle to illuminate the sides of the trail, while the two center LEDs are narrow beam to cut ahead of the truck

also, you got any pics of the setup inside the body? i'm pretty interested in tricking out a body just for fun but i dont really know how they come together.
ps, how many posts before you can put image urls in your posts? i really want to put up some track layouts i designed to see which might be the most fun to race (i am only gonna rebuild the track once each summer)

Those lights are running off the truck's own power, not a separate battery, and not even the full voltage of the pack either. Just the 5 volts that comes from the radio receiver.
And for that reason there's not much to see with the body off, just a bunch of wires.

I wired up my boys truck similar tapping off the receiver.. picked up a servo exension lead, and then wired the LEDS to an old servo pigtail. When you put the body in, plug into the pig tail. We did this due to the radio box being sealed.
Bought my LEDs from a guy here in Michigan off ebay. He sells LEDs in various voltage, I bought 6v for my needs and they are quite bright.
Great for looks and such, not practical for racing.

I believe he buys them from a US manufacturer, I didn't think to ask about specifics.
