MMP / Novak 550 4.5 Help

I just finished up the install on my 4x4 PE Slash. I did some shakedown runs around the track and am not happy at all with the set up:flaming: after abotu 15 mins of running the esc fan kicked on (150F) and the motor temped at 120F. I thought that putting this set up in the slash would let it run cooler. I guess my question is what am I doing wrong or need to change.:confused: Here's the info on everything. Slash 4x4 with center diff 54t spur 13T pinion, MMP esc, Novak Ballistic 550 4.5T running on 2 cell lipo 5000mah/30c The track is outdoor clay small to med. in size, med. traction. I tore the whole truck back down earlier tonight to go through it and redo the diffs, since it's running the 4.5 what wt. diff fluid should I run? What spur pinion would work best? and with the castle link what should I change in the programming in the esc? I really just want to drop the temp in the truck, But still run decent. Thanks in advance for any help guys:D

Agreed...

Hell, if I came off the truck with those temps, I'd be looking to gear up :)

Just came off @ 148 today after an 8 min main - been doing that for months now with my Ballistic 4.5/MMP

yeah nothing wrong there.
I also run on a outdoor clay track with the exact same setup
also 54/13 geared

and I also use a big ass cooler on my novak. now I can also run pinions up to 16 with no temp problems.
in the blue baloon is my BEC

I run
7K front diff
5k rear diff
60k centerdiff

Ok thanks guys. What temp would be the danger zone for the motor or esc so I know what to check for? Also should I change any of the programing in my Mamba Max Pro esc?

The motor will take up to 180 degree the ESC will go as high as 180-200 before it thermals .

I agree it sounds fine but you may want to check your gear mesh and ensure you don't have any binding. That will help reduce your temps. Sometimes the center driveshaft will bind up on the Slash 4x4.

finished refreshing the trucks diffs this morning and ran it for about 20 mins on the track and it temped on the motor at 137 F with out a fan on it, ran great and pulled hard. Thanks for the help guys.:)

I am running the MMP and Novak HV 4.5 in my Hyper 10sc and I love it. It has amazing punch and top end.

those temps are great, you can probably go up a tooth on the pinion and get a little more out of it.
