Is a '4 port' sleeve in a normally 3 port .12 CV Race legal?
Hey,
I'm considereing getting a Duratrax ABC (as opposed to ABN) sleeve and piston set for a .12 CV-X. It advertises that the Duratrax is a 4 port sleeve on Tower hobbies, the original OS sleeve is a 3 port, will this be legal for racing? Btw its for a 2wd buggy. thanks, Jamie |
I've never seen it..but I'm pretty sure the sleeves are going to be the same.
Racing companies don't count the exhaust port. The O.S. 3-port sleeve is 3 ports plus the exhaust port. I am willing to bet that the sleeve you're talking about is the same, and that Duratrax simply included the exhaust port in the port count to prevent confusion. |
I actually began to think the same thing shortly after this post,
how long would a ABC sleeve last in comparison to an ABN?? Just a rough, rough guess, considereing the engines were both run the same throughout their life. |
Quite a bit longer. Chrome is a lot tougher than nickel.

Just make sure you don't try to use that Duratrax sleeve in a CZ-R. It doesn't work even though the info claims it does. The high speed ports are completly blocked by the the block of the CZ-R Engine.

LOL i don't have a CZ-R and don't plan on getting one, they are almost "antique".
Thanks aaron. |

My CZ-R idles great, but it will not do anything but idle. Sorry, don't have much more input, but my engine doesn't have much output :(

I think they lowered the price of the sleeves just to get them to sell. I can't imagine they sell many of them.
