Default runtime

I have actually run a 6s 5000mah in my buggy, rc8b. I bought it strickly to see how much runtime I could get. I'm using a tekin system 1550kv. Even though the battery is at least 2lbs. If you setup the car accordingly it actually drive ok. I can tell you the weight makes it extremely stable in the roughest of bumps. It just hammers though them, making the suspension do its work. I've actually yet to run this battery to cut-off ever.

I'm really interested to see what run times you manage to get from a 6S 5000. Keep us posted.

Will do. I'd like to go with smaller mah lipos ideally, but my main focus is to make a 20 minute main. I made my order tonight.

Setup is here.

1350kv/6S 5000mah.

I have it all installed. I don't know if I'll be able to test it this weekend on a track, but I will be next weekend. Will keep this thread updated.

6s 5000 is a HUGE pack, if you can't make 20min shoot yourself.. LOL I've never raced with a pack that big in a truggy.. I did race my e-revo with a pair of 2s 9000mAH pack which would be about the same size/weight. I can make 17minutes not trying with a 4s 6500 setup, if I dropped down some kv and tossed in the castle 1512 1800kv motor 20minutes would be mine easily.. which funny enough I have, but need to install still :P

Yeah, it's definitely a big pack. However it fit the tray with no problems at all. No modification needed.

i run my rc8te with a castle 1800kv motor and turnigy 5000 4s lipos and get 19.5 minutes runtime geared 17 46. a 5800mah will see 20 minutes + easy. i am eyeballing one of those turnigy 6000mah nanotech 4s packs would love to see runtimes near 30 minutes

Man! If you can do that on a 4S setup, I can only imagine what his 6S 5000mah/1350kv setup will do.

Maybe the 5000mah pack was overkill after all...better safe than sorry though... I can always get lower mah packs if I need to.

Update:

Weather was nice, but couldn't make it to any tracks today. So, I went ahead and just tested it in the yard.

Torque is definitely "there." I couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground! Top speed still seemed plenty quick...very fast especially for a track. I was out there playing around for about 10-15 minutes, almost constantly throttle pinned and lots of wide open. Temped out at 120 on the motor, 98 on the ESC, and the batteries weren't even warm at all.

Went in. Cleaned it up, let it cool down and put the battery on the charger for a recharge. It used a mere 1,056/5000mah in all of that running.

Amazing! Can't wait to try it on an actual track. Will continue to update this thread.

Traction rolled on grass due to too much brake input. LOL!

so whats your gearing on your rc8te?
So did u get the blue lipo?
I had my gearing at 14/50 for my first 20 minute main. i have since went up to a 15 tooth pinion but due to weather no racing in my parts of town.
Yeah i agree lets keep this going

This weekend will be the official testing of it. I will be racing on a large outdoor 8th scale track with the nitro truggies most likely.

Assuming I make the A-main, I will need to make a 25 minute main.

I'm going to try it, and push this thing all the way and see if it can be done. It's only an exhibition race, so I will be testing to see what run time I do get and if I can make a 25 minute main I will be more than happy. I will update this tread with performance, runtime, and temps after tomorrow.

Thanks for the help so far... Wanted to rekindle this thread. I am also trying to get 25 min out of an 1350 6S setup.

Turning my RX8 all the way down (10 on current limit), I think I can make it. Going out to XRC saturday... Wish me luck.

In 2 weeks I will be attempting a 30 minute main. Last time at LCRC I used 2200mah in 15 minutes. I have a 5000mah pack so it should be possible. We will find out!

If one were to use a tekin motor and esc. A 1300kv motor and 5000 6s batts.
Would you be able to add some timing into the esc to get the wheel speed for air corrections and a little more speed and not use that much more power?
Since timing doesnt kick in untill your moving already I wouldnt think the amp draw would be much more.
