Simple green is awesome for cleaning them.

Simple mixed with WD-40 and water works great.
Tires you mighy wanna see what people are your track is using.

Simple green 50/50 with water. Spray, brush, dry with towel, done.

As for tires, it depends on the track and the conditions (some tracks differ greatly throughout the day).

I've seen some people using orange colored stuff in a spray bottle.What would you guess that be?

In Dallas we use a tuperware container with a brush shoe gooed in it. Fill with water just to the brush line and squirt 8 to 10 squirts of simple green in the water. Dry with a towel and let air dry. Apply Buggy Grip to tires 15 min before race. Buggy grip will be very slippery if still wet on tire when you race it must be total dried.

Nothing... at my usual track, my tires work better when they have 5+ laps on them so I just leave them dusty and clean them with water after racing. If you do though, simple green adds a little tack, and buggy grip or wd40 both soften the surface of the tire.

I dont even towel dry the simple green, let it air dry and it not only cleans but adds a little tack.

I also like simple green. After each race I wash them with water and then zip-grip them to soften them up.

After the qual's the car sticks like a cat on carpet. :nod:

X3

If the track is going to be wet, rinse them off with water. Water and simple green is slick. ;)

+++ Simple green and brush.

seth556 04-11-2011 10:16 AM

The simple green softening only lasts a few laps for me, isn't that what you guys get too? If you want to soften your tires and have it last for the entire race try Sticky Kicks, it works great for me. Some other guys also like Buggy Grip and a few other brands, but sticky kicks works for me and I can change compounds depending on the traction level.
