From what Ive seen 5700kv seems to get hot in SC trucks I run 4600 geared 17/88 and I get temps around 140-150. I know your probally on the throttle a lot more than me though. And get some airflow through that big body. A couple of holes in the windshield and cutout the back to cut down down on drag.

That seems hot for a 4600. Stock should be set to 10 degrees.(It was on my MMP) I ran 15 degrees of timing on a 5700/2s in a 1/10th truck on the oval and temps we're in the 150 range.(16/90) I had punch control set to 10% though.

Yeah ill mess with it and see what happens.... If worse comes to worse ill just throw the 3s in, turn the punch to 100% and loosen the slipper so I dont pull wheelies.

its tad warmer than i like buts its big track. 160 is the danger zone for me if it burns up i will just get another but i havent had a problem. but once it gets warmer i will gear down a lil.

Faze,
168 is not too hot for a CC motor. They tolerate higher temps. Call CC up on Monday to verify this.

A CC 4600 motor should kick *ss on a 17.5. An equivalent sensored motor would be a 10.5 or so.

2s is noticably slower than 3s. A vehicle that does 30mph on 2s should do low to mid 40s with the same gearing on 3s, and out accelerate the 2s along the way.

If you are mostly intetested in top speed, what you have your punch control set at wont matter much, but don't set ot too high. Try 20-30° of timing advance and that 4600 should do well on 2s. Shoot for 180°F, but call Castle on Monday to verify.

Ive heard that the CC can run a little hotter than most motors but I didnt wanna find out I had some back luck with Novaks so I didnt want push above 160. But I dont need all out speed the race isnt won on the straight.

... I found out tonight how hot they can get before they blow....

I was out practicing, put the 3s lipo in with 15/88, ran for awhile, saw smoke start coming outta the car, temped the motor at 310 degrees.... Shes done. So I went a picked up a novak ballistic 13.5, threw a 27t pinion on right before the heat and just went balls out. Pinion came off 3 laps in, DNF

Second heat rolls around im on practice laps, my wheel flies off because the wheel bearing somehow shattered and the axle slid through the knuckle....

They decided not to run 3 heats, so onto the feature... Get the issue fixed just in time, go out and got third. My first time ever racing, so im pretty happy. The guys pulled away on the straights but I could beat them through the turns.

Expensive, but fun day.

Battery could be a issuse or bearing.
I said it could be bearings
310 is crazy hot, sound like a good day in this great hobby. Just watch those novak motors they dont to be pushed over 160from what ive seen.

Weird part is, the wheel was spinning perfect all day long... Even right up till I put it on the track. And I ran the novak for a 5 minute feature and It didnt even hit 115... I could hold the motor it wasnt hot at all thank God. Its too slow though so im going to either an 6.5 or 8.5 soon.

I know a few rednecks that have slow truck issues also....
