Guys:

I have been racing for many years but have not really to any degree balanced tires for off road in 1/10 or 1/8 class because I didn't think it mattered. I've opened my mind to maybe it does....so....does it really make a difference in races on a rough track that runs both of those classes on the same day and the track gets more blown out?

I have heard so many Pros and Cons, I sure would appreciate replys from those that have experience in this matter....input is good IMHO!

How good is the Team Losi tire balancer or is there a better one out there. Do I need one? Money is not really a matter.

IMHO, it's the best tire balancer out there. I got one the moment it was available and never looked back. You'll notice instant improvement in the car's performance using balanced tires. They behave just like the real thing. It also comes in a nice plastic case. If you plan to race seriously, get one.

I went for years of not ballancing tires..then one day I began and I believe it does help any vehicles performance (on and off the ground) and reduces parts wear over time. I use the Hudy balancer, but it was before Losi produced theirs. The Losi balancer is perfect and I think you would like balanced tires over unbalanced, especially on larger wheel/tire vehicles.

I have to agree. I have the losi balancer also and i love it. Take some time to clean and degrease the bearings if you are going to use the adapater for other than 1/8 wheels. I balance everything down to 1/10 buggy tires now and it really does make a difference.

I am not sure.
I bought the Top Flight Precision magnetic balancer instead of the Losi. It uses a magnetic field to suspend the tire and there is very little to nonexsistent friction. No bearings to clean or change out to higher quality to reduce friction. It works with 1/10 and 1/8 scale wheels with no additional adapters, but it may not hold up the weight of some 1/8 scale, like truggy wheels. It costs about $20. I think you can get it at A-main. I only have 1/10 stuff, and it is very accurate.

I use a DU-RBO prop balancer. I believe it is one of if not the best balancer you can get for tires.

This style of balancer has no side load on bearings " IE a wheel being suspended in the air " So there is no drag at all

Plus it will work on any size tire from 1/12 to 1/10 to 1/8 truggy tires....

I have this one as well. Very easy to use and was reasonably priced. What really sold me on it was that I don't need any adapters because I have quite a few different kinds of vehicles that (of course) take different wheels.

It has been 6 days since you asked whether or not you need an adapter. Why don't you look up what accessories are available for the Losi balancer? (Hint Hint). Don't you know how to call up someone who sells the product, or how to do a google search?

From looking at it you need to completely disassemble it and then heat the aluminum tube that the bearings sit in with a heat gun. Once the aluminum is hot enough it will expand and the bearings should drop out. You also might need to tap the tube with a block of wood or something to pop them out.

There is an adapter for the Losi balancer that allows you to balance 10th scale wheels, both truck and buggy. I've used it for every one of my cars, from my RC8 to my B44.
Out of all my RC friends at the track, I'm the only one to balance wheels. My friends all ask to use my balancer for their wheels. It makes a HUGE difference in performance!
