Default Tekin 1700kv Truggy on 5S, How much Mah will I need?

Just a quick question to anyone who is running 1700kv on 5S.

What size (MaH) of Lipo should I get to make 15 to 20 min mains?

I was hoping 5000mah should do the trick.

Thanks in advance.

I am running 3700 and 4200 mah packs which gives me apx. 12 ånd 15 min racing time each. 5000 mah should give you some margin to finish the race.

Yea..5000 should give you atleast 15 mins. If you questioning it then look a little above that.

depends what track you are on and how hard you run. As an example at family hobbies raceway in vineland last week i was running 5c/5500mah/45c with 1550kv motor geared 17/48. I got about 19mins running at a hard pace. As an example in the qualifiers I was running at 219 mah per min. In the main though keeping the pack off my back I was running at 323mpm. That's a huge jump and hard to estimate. Always go bigger on mah for practice laps and the inevitable foot to the floor. Only balancing act is making sure you dont go too heavy. we pit stop my electric truggy once per main, but that's a whole nother story and a patent pending.

It will, but be prepared to run a pretty large pinion gear to make it work. A 1900 or 2050 is a better choice on 4s.

I would definitely switch for a 1550kv T8 motor in 5S if you look for runtimes. Tekin's motor selection guide is a starting point but depends on your driving, the track, the electronics used, your software settings and so on. For example I use 1400kv motor in 5S even on large tracks and it's more than needed. Slow is fast IMO you won't ever need more than 28000 rpm

I have recently been testing with lower kv motors in my truggy. I was using a Tekin 2250 on 4s 13/45 in a Losi 8t 2.0, with throttle epa at 75% and could run 16 mmin with a 5250mah battery. I tried a 2000 kv motor with the same gearing, throttle epa at 90% and a 6500mah battery amd ran 18 min. I put a 1700 kv motor in yesterday, went up two teeth on the pinion, 100% on the throttle epa, and ran 18 minutes. I'm liking the 1700 right now. It has plenty of top end and isn't over powered.

The only thing to make sure with alower kv is the heat because you'll need a bigger pinion but if the system stays cool lower kv always meant faster laptimes for me
