thankīs for all answers and opinions!
i owned many 1/10 escīs and always have keep my vxl and is incredible what that esc handles...
itīs simple, powerful and have run all the motors i have in stock from sensorless to sensored and from 540 to 550 can motors!
never heat even on dirt 1/8 tracks or 1/10 indoor carpet tracks.
i want to buy the 4 poles 3800kv castle motor because 4 poles extra torque and eficiency and less heat.
but itīs hard to find it without sidewinder esc for sell..

Can anyone really confirm the Velineon will work with a 4 pole motor? I tried my Velineon with a Neu 1506 4 pole motor tonight and it doesn't really work. The car goes but it hits a rev-limiter at full throttle. This is annoying because I feel it's not hitting max RPM.

Ah, I kinda like the feedback. Helps me on the next revision...
You do have to update the software in the field link for it to work with the Sidewinder SCT.
The ESC kinda feels cheap, cause it's kinda cheap. What do you want for $99 for a combo with a tremendous motor?
Really, the motor is about 70% of our cost. We were shooting for a ROAR legal (for SCT racing) motor and ESC. We know how much it cost to make the motor, so I designed an ESC that would give us the ability to hit a $99.00 street price, yet still perform well enough to handle the motor.
150F - 160F is nothing -- the ESC will handle about 300F without damage. It has a two level over-temp detection, which means it will punish you if you push it too hard (if it detects an extreme temperature ramp, it will shut down until temps settle down -- shows as a 30-40 second shutdown.) We use 200F as our heat sink maximum temperature for normal operation.
Just rambling...

We do not offer the 1406 motors in a combo, they are only available by themselves; whenever we combine a motor and ESC, it is always cheaper than buying them individually. And keep in mind about 70% of our cost on the Sidewinder SCT is in the motor; so when we offer the 1410 3800kv by itself, it would be more than $50.00.
But yes, the only difference between the 1406 and 1410 motors is the kv and length. So if you don't need a higher kv motor and the 3800kv will get the job done...get the Sidewinder SCT combo and get a good ESC with a great motor at an amazing price.
