Default Best SC1/10 motor-ESC combo

I know this has been asked a thousand times, but new to the S/C world. Perhaps looking to upgrade SC10 in near future. Just looking for good combo.

Mamba Max Pro/ Castle 3800 maybe a bit much for 2wd so maybe castle 4600. Both run great.

Speed Passion! Current IFMAR World Champs. Solderless connections are dialed and make maintenance a breeze. All aluminum upper case. Been using 17.5 V3 in my SC for about 8mo. using boost with zero issues. Can also use zero timing blinky too. Speedo is updateable too latest firmaware and both can be had for less than $200.

Hi,
Thinking of getting a SC10 4x4. I already have Novak GTB and 10.5 in my 2wd just wondering can they be used in a SC10 4x4?

Personally Im going with the Novak Havoc Pro SC ESC/Ballistic combo. I have one already for my SC10 FT. I've decided to do one for my Losi SC 4x4 as well. Tne nice thing about the the Novak Ballistic motors is you can swap out the stator for any turn you need. So I can race the stock 17.5T class, then just swap out the stator to say a 10.5T setup and run modified without having to buy a new motor.

I dont know what to recommend as i dont know what you are going to be doing with it.

Are you:

Bashing?
Racing Spec class?
Racing Modified?

Do you want something to burn up? Or something that will last at least a season?

There is no "BEST" that covers all of this.

If you are racing, but are unsure of what you will need, it sounds like you need to head to your local track and ask some questions.

Ask about classes, motors, tires, scheduling, and other specific track rules you should be aware of. Usually if you are new and walk in the door and say "Hey im new to this", "This is what you need to know" follows shortly on its own.

Because there is so much interest in SCTs and many new racers, have set up a Short Course area in our store to list the electronics we offer for both 2WD and 4x4s. Although you can run 540s in the heavier 4x4s, we recommend our 550s (with 5mm shafts) for these trucks. Our GTBs work fine with both size motors on 2S.

You can always exchange your 540 size motors for 550s, if you decide to get into 4x4 racing.

Thanks for responses.
Motors I have are 540 (Novak 6.5T & 7.5T used in 4wd Buggy and 10.5 in 2wd)
Will be bashing/racing with a few friends on a grass track, nothing serious.
Considering Losi or Assocaited SC4x4
Any other recomendations?
Rgs,
A

You will smoke your 540 can motor like NovakTwo mentioned... You need a 550 sized motor or a 4 pole 540 to run the Losi.

I am using my 540 can as an example since I run in 2 classes in SC 2wd. One stock(17.5t) and one modified(10.5t). I do so only using one motor since I can swap out the stator. I know that when I used my SC 4x4 Im going to be using a 550 can.

For racing in the Mod class I would suggest a Tekin 8.5T motor and Tekin RS ESC. That's the motor size the "A main" guys run. That's what I run at the big races.

We have a Mod class with a motor limit of 13.5T at our track that we race indoors every Wednesday night. I run a Tekin 13.5T and Tekin RS ESC at full boost!

I have a SC104x4 on Pre-order. Going to run the new Tekin Motor SC4x 5.5T (550 Motor) with an RX8 ESC.
