Performance mods for SC10

Just got a new RTR SC10, and so far its been fun, but it feels a bit slow. I was thinking of putting a 3S Lipo in it, can the stock speed control handle it? Any other good mods to get some more performance out of this truck? Your feedback is greatly appreciated,
Jon

Is it the brushless rtr? I dont think the stock esc will handle 3s on either though. If ur racing, most tracks will only allow 2s lipos. So keep that in mind when you go buy new batteries. If you have the brushed motor, look into castle creations for a cheap high quality brushless. You can get the sidewinder sct 3800 system for $120 or you can get the sidewinder v2 system for $99. Ive seen the v2 in action and its pretty dang fast on 2s.

the RTR brushless SC10 will handle a 3s just fine with the stock speedo / 3300kv motor.. its damn near undriveable with the stock radio gear however.. you definitely want something with some expo and adjustable epa

Its brushless, I have a 3S my friend wants to sell me, but I think I will try it first. The guy at Hobby Town said the stock speed controller probably would not handle a 3S, so I think I will stick with a 2S and getting a hotter motor. The sales person agreed that the stock motor is pretty slow, something I concur with. Any other hot tips on mods? Thank you for the feedback,
Jon

the XP SC450 ESC automatically detects a 3s and will adjust the lipo cutoff voltage accordingly.. (I have an SC10 brushless RTR) the guy at hobby town doesnt know .. look in the ESC manual that came with the truck.. (i have mine right in front of me) it states 2-3 cell lipo. it'll be perfectly fine.. tested and verified

i would invest in a rpm bumper and A arms as well.

I saw a good performance gain running the Racer Edge 1 degree toe-in rear hubs.

Have you taken the esc out of soft mode? If not, look at your instruction manual for how to. Also gear up to at least a 20t pinion.

are you bashing or racing?

For racing, I run a rtr sc10 too. Get some good tires, and .5 or 1 degree rear hubs and youll have more traction than youll ever need. I can pull wheelies with mine.

I put the castle v2 4600 combo in mine (~$100) and it has tons more power over the stock system. few other little things, but for the most part, with those items youll have a super fun truck
